Last Deadpool 2 trailer is out. I predict Peter will be the unsung hero of the film.

As a fan of Tom Hardy, I'm looking forward to this. However, that last shot kinda pushed it into campy territory. I wonder if Spidey will at least make a cameo.

I'm seeing conflicted rumours about that. Some stick with the line about this being full standalone (so no spidey at all) while others are insisting that Tom Holland is in the movie as Peter Parker/spidey. I think we won't know fully till the film is out as if spidey is in the film then it stands to reason that venom, would in fact be, a mcu film.

As for the trailer itself, I liked it, I've got low expectations because of the studio but it's looking better than spiderman 3 did. Now, we wait and see if the next trailer confirms another rumour...about a certain Cletus Cassidy being featured with his symbiot in tow.

Ok, so this thread came up and I need to get some thoughts out about Infinity wars.

All spoilers tagged and bagged below.

First thing is first, this movie was incredible. The cast was large but they made it work. There were tons of great character moments and the action was awesome.

The first focus: I love Iron Man and Spider Man together. They are the greatest pairing in my opinion, like a father/son pairing. And both actors are great with their jobs too, so it makes it even better. It also lead me to the moment when I cried in the movie: at the end when Peter dissolves to ash, telling Tony he isn't ready to go, and all Tony can do is hold him and silently and in horror watch him die and fade. That was heart wrenching, worse than any other Marvel death ever.

Second focus: Thanos himself. HE IS A FRIKKIN AWESOME VILLAIN. He is the villain that all other villains strive to be. He had motivation, he had skills, he was nigh invincible, he didn't get distracted, he was ruthless, he even had emotions and the ability to defeat those emotions, at great cost to him, to accomplish his goal. The whole section with Gamora was very well done, and how he feels for Scarlett Witch when she kills Vision was great, as was him just moving time back to take the stone anyway. He is what the villain Marvel always needed, and nailed.

Red skull was an awesome surprise as well, and his role as Infinity stone guardian was a neat touch.

While I loved Iron Man's armor and all the killer stuff it did, as well as Iron Spider, Thor with Stormbreaker killed it for me. The lightning, the axe, the pure godliness of it all, it was awesome. Thor finally became what he always needed and could be.

I also really liked how Thanos did win, and it was the emotions of Quill, Scarlett Witch, and Gamora that enabled him to win.

I am also 100% sure Dr. Strange saw the way they could win, and he gave Thanos the time stone and spared Tony because Tony is necessary for the victory and Thanos must win before he can lose.

Overall, brilliant movie, well worth the time and money. I hope it keeps killing it at the box office, having already broke the US and international records for opening weekend. It deserves it

Thanos characters is excellent. The adaptation was made really well,to shown not only as Thanos as an antagonist but as a person.

It's something they've been working on in his current solo book.

Oh dude, he is nowhere near overhyped. He lived up to expectations. He was a, if not the, main character in the film. There were probably only about 3 or 4 guys who had around as much screentime as he did

How was Captain America able to resist Thanos’ strength. Thanos is supposed to be stronger than the Hulk.

Captain America is not even stronger than Spider-man.

I was at a meeting the other night and Infinity War came up.

Now one of the guys at the meeting, he's an expert on EVERYTHING. So he comes out with (and he hasn't seen the movie) "I heard it has no plot".

Trying to explain to him that the plot had been building for 10 years was lost on him.

All those movies were building to this, from introducing characters, bringing them together, and slowly building the threat of Thanos, and that's what Infinity War is about. Bringing in Thanos, quickly establishing his character and cementing him as one of the best characters in the MCU.

The conversation then went "oh they're definitely doing a sequel / I've heard there's going to be another one". Yes. It was announced years ago.

They simply couldn't grasp the notion of 18 movies all being connected, yeah it's never been done before, but they simply couldn't fathom it.

And these guys are teachers.

I think it's because of the notion that films don't have this kind of connectivity. Am article I read the other day said it was best to look at the marvel movies as episodes of a TV show, with character development being spread about the movies and thanos moving behind the scenes.

Going forward it will be interesting to see what phase 4 will be, since they'll be building toward an unknown event.

Other films have had connectivity which most people don't even realise.

Shawn of the Dead / Hot Fuzz / The End of the World are all connected, and not just because of the actors and writer.

But nothing has been done on this scale. DC's trying, but they've set themselves up to fail.

Dc rushed into it, instead of letting the solo movies come first, they saw the success of avengers and decided that the standalone model wasn't what they wanted. If I recall correctly man of steel wasn't supposed to be connected to anything at first but that quickly changed. Then we had Sony's attempt to set up a spidey cinematic universe which resulted in a lacklustre amazing 2 because of all that was needlessly added in, without mentioning the plans for an aunt may movie. It seems that a few are trying to copy the plans without realising why what marvel did, worked.

@The Cornetto trilogy. Now I haven't seen the last one yet, meant to but never found time, but you mean to tell me their connections run deeper then just the principal actors and the subtle nods to each other? Was this revealed in the third film or just what's being said in interviews?

Just the Cornetto. It's the only thing that's consistent (aside from the flavour) throughout all three movies.

Marvel slayed the buildup, everything worked perfectly, and it has paid off tremendously.

What saddens me is the people complaining about Infinity War as if it is a one shot movie, not part 1 of 2 of the big end to the first 3 phases of Marvel movies that slowly but surely built up on one another in spectacular fashion.

Also, I have an opinion: Iron Man has done his best work in movies that aren't named after him

Not only that, but its something that goes way back from the original Infinity Gauntlet Saga. Then in the comic version of Infinity War,he essential to saving the universe, going after what the cause with the help of (somewhat hesitant) heroes.

Is this new ongoing solo book worth it?I thoroughly believe Thanos is at his best when written by Jim Starlin.

If you're a fan of Thanos and have been for a few years, maybe.

It's really just about Thanos re-establishing his place in the universe after his stay in the Cancerverse.

I'll agree with this though, I would like to see more about the mandarin after the hail to the king short. Iron man 2, I didn't think was that bad but I was expecting more from whiplash after what I read before (I think the actor was as well) bit it was cool to see iron man and war machine fighting alongside each other. Iron man 3 though...It just seemed pointless and the big reveal? Yeah the fact that marvel essentially back peddled on it shows that even they wished they could go back and alter it.

My GF (nerd, but not comic book nerd) was shocked and saddened by all the deaths, obviously and especially Peter's. Granted it was a sad moment, but I just laughed "oh dear, with this many deaths and another movie to go, trust me, they'll be back"

And because of that fact, I thought killing Peter was a tricky tear jerking cop-out, but a Youtuber pointed out something rather interesting. In the original Infinity Gauntlet comic, Spidey does what he can, then gets sidelined for the finale because against a cosmic GOD, what can he really do? So rather than be sidelined in the next movie (and Climax to said story) it was much more impactful to kill him off as opposed to lamely sideline him due to uselessness.

Also yes, it was surprising to see Strange hand over his stone to save Tony, but it was pretty easy to surmise that he'd only have done so if it led to the one scenario where they all live.

All in all, it was a phenomenal movie. And I was mostly shocked and impressed with, for how many characters the story had to juggle, how cohesive it was. I'll likely have more to say, but s'all I got for now.

That's my feeling too. 1 was a good origin story, 2 was my favorite (I am a War machine and triangle chest piece fan). and then 3 kinda really sucked. I don't like it that much. Iron Man has been more enjoyable in the Avengers, Spider Man, and even Civil War.
