I'd say the MTMTE Thing is better suited to the Top 5 worst name reuses and/or original names... Animated UM easily takes his place as one of the best. I've read quite a bit of MTMTE now, via the Part Work, and it veers towards the level of the Marvel US with how bad some bits of it are.

I'd say MTMTE is more the marmite of the TF comics, opinion of it varies but only in extremes. No one just thinks its okay (countdown to someone coming in to prove me wrong) it's either glowing praise or hateful disdain. Personally I love it, it's got everything I want in a comic. I respect though that your tastes may differ

To me, while Roberts does do some interesting things IE parts of Remain in Light are quite good. When it comes to tonal consistency though, the narrative is often a disjointed mess. It might be a good comic to personal taste, however it is a bad Transformers comic. Because he doesn't seem to get what they are. There is one point wherein Brainstorm remarked about having alt-modes and not using them, as they travel to a destination on flying platform things. While that could be interpreted as a Forth Wall breaking joke, it also highlights the massive narrative shortcomings and disparity of MTMTE compared to the rest of Transformers canon.

It is why I have largely given up on discussing individual issues of the Part Work in that thread. Most of it now is early RiD/MTMTE to latter IDWverse and it is just. not. good.

Magnus might be the best because it's a reused G1 name in the context of the storytelling too. It's true that Robert's work feels disjointed at times, but his portrayal of Magnus was consistent, so that's all I need.

His portrayal wasn't consistent with the rest of IDWverse though IE Furman's and even Costa's. Then to have the cheek to write that off as "a different character in disguise" is really trite.

On the flipside of that was Animated Ultra Magnus. A refreshingly new and unique interpretation.

I realize both dont work anyways since they are still based on G1 to an extent that I am more than cmomfortable with. I cant really call IDW a name reuse if he still looks like G1 Magnus. Animated is a twist on him but he still is a high ranking soldier with the same colour scheme and design nods, like big white shoulders.

Anyways, safe to say if I just replace him with BW Silverbolt there will be less discussion as to the validity of the entry.

I could still use Minimus Ambus for the original character list. Though I wonder, between the following, which is better and more obvious (which would get less bitching), Minimus Ambus, Tarn or Rung?

Something else I was thinking about recently, with the current previews for IDW 2.0, is a top 5 most underutilised characters. People such as Cliffjumper, Blurr, Tripredacus etc

Characters that were a part of the visual identity of their respective series, but ultimately their potential was never explored.

Hey gang! I made a top ten list because I got clickbaited a while ago with a top 10 most difficult to obtain transformers list and was severely disappointed that it was all MISB g1 toys. Thought I might drop it here. The idea was that the toy isn't necessarily expensive in absolute terms but for what it is, and it was kinda hard to come by even if you were willing to lay out the money. Let me know what you think or if anything else should be on here!

if ever you were keeping tabs, Zerowolf, all those lists were made except for Beast modes. but I think it's good I held off on that one since we are getting the Kingdom line now.

I had an idea for a bizarrely specific list: Top 5 (or 10) Megatron fusion cannons. It's such an iconic weapon that's been re-interpreted so many times, and there's been some really interesting versions of it over the years. The WFC version, Animated's cool triangular barreled gun, Armada's under-the-shoulder tank cannon, etc.

Could do! I was thinking of TM Megatron's "fusion tail" so I see no reason why the T-Rex head couldn't work.

I realize I have yet to even plan a top 5 Wheeljack list. So I started and I see why, there arent that many good wheeljack toys out there. Like, it isn't obvious. MP and Prime are great but then the rest are all ho hum with the only one that really sticks out is the Cybertron Downshift toy which is only Wheeljack in a tangential fashion. I realize unlike other characters, he isn't as big a legacy character as I thought. No toy in Animated, no toy in RID, no full on version of him in the Bay films and no decent toy of him in Cyberverse. I think I'll wait till we get a studio series toy of his BB movie form.
