Dunno why, but I'm not feeling it. I have MT's Novae, but if I didn't I think I'd be holding out for an upgrade for TFCC's Nova (even with its shortcomings).

This guy was such a disappointment for me. He was clearly a quick cash-in for MT by building upon Battle Tanker...a kit that was designed for a DELUXE figure. MT could have up-scaled the 20% parts that were carried over from Battle Tanker and made HyperNovae a voyager, but that didn't happen. For such an imposing figure in the IDW comics, HyperNovae seems to suffer from "little man" syndrome. Seriously, the only "wow" factor about HyperNovae is his set of wings; take that away and you have a fairly bland deluxe figure. I don't know why I even purchased him in the first place, but I quickly sold the figure for around $70.

It's true I never liked the figure itself (Never actually like the whole Battle Tanker thing, stupid hands). but It looks amazing with the rest of my IDW Dark Cybertron shelf. Plus this and the MMC one was announced at around the same time, and I've had this thing for almost 3 years now? crazy

Dark Cybertron shelf, eh??? Niiiiiiiiiiice. Yea, HyperNovae is definitely not for everyone, but his aesthetics definitely flow better with CHUG and Don's rendition of Nova Prime. If memory serves me right, I had read somewhere (interview) that MMC decided to push back the release of Seraph during the announcement of HyperNovae because:

1) Nova Prime was a relatively obscure figure at the time
2) HyperNovae's release would negatively impact sales of Seraph if the two were released close together
3) The internal "size" debate for Seraph pushed production farther back
4) Production of other (cheaper) IDW figures will determine the longterm feasibility of IDW-inspired characters for MMC

I always felt this strayed a little too close to KO territory for me. I don't know how much I like MMC's unarmored mode, but the armored up mode is beautiful. And as someone already said, the truck mode is very nice! I'm pretty sure this will be my Nova. Unless someone else comes out with something better soon. Maybe an add-on for white CW Prime? Or maybe that'll be my Thunder Clash.

I like him armored up. I think the core robot doesn't look all that great.

I just can't quite buy into this guy. Love most of what MMC produce, but he just doesn't scream Nova Prime to me. Are those the final colours? Seems a bit bland.

Apparently he's a mix of both Nova and Prima, but leaning alot towards Prima because of those curves. And yeah a bit too much of purple to be Nova.

Maybe an actual Nova Prime repaint is planned that replaces all that purple with translucent orange? You know how MMC love their repaints :-D

But godammnit someone should really pick up on the actual IDW Nova Prime design!

Oh dear heavenly father, please don't let MMC delay this figure due to Beelzeboss' announcement of Fanatic Lord. Seraph may not be the Nova we need, but perhaps he is the Nova that this disjointed fandom deserves...

*Siiigh*...As we gradually approach the three-year mark since Seraph's reveal, I feel as though I have vicariously owned him, played with him, placed him away, and then sold him. My anticipation for this figure is now just lukewarm, at best. Seriously, it seems that MMC has definitely dropped the ball on this figure, with the release of Hypernovae, release of FunPub Nova Prime, announcement of Beelzeboss Fanatic Lord, and now SND Primo X-Mortis. I'm not one who enjoys using profanity to express my emotions, but right now I reaaaaally feel like flinging a few choice words at MMC. Granted, some people will say that MMC doesn't owe me anything. However, if MMC is in this business to make money (and let's face it, MCC is in it for money), then it would behoove the company to not string its consumers along for such an extended period of time. There comes a point in which consumers will get burned out (and lose interest) from the slow trickle of images with no solid release date in sight. This guy just keeps getting pushed back for whatever reason(s), and it really tests the patience of potential consumers. Meanwhile, MMC's competitors are filling in the Nova Prime gap on collectors' shelves. Some of us might feel inclined to have more than one iteration of Nova on their shelves, but the vast majority of us will have no strong attachment to the character whatsoever. Given this, collective interest in a third party Nova Prime will be contingent upon 1) timing of release, 2) price, and 3) likeness to the character. There was once a time when collectors can and will purchase every third party figure that gets released; that time has long since passed because the market is now deeply saturated. Therefore, consumers will have to strategically consider which third party figures to own. With the impending release of Beelzeboss' kit (IF it does get released, seeing as how Beelzeboss doesn't have a great track record of keeping to its word) and SND's kit, Seraph will have serious competition, due to the fact that 1) both kits are expected to be released in 1-2 months, 2) both kits are less than $100, and 3) both kits will have more of a Devastation-meets-IDW visual appeal. So, to sum things up: I am disappoint. MMC, redeem yourself with a pre-order!!!

Unfortunately, this is kind of how MMC does business. They show a resin proto & then tweak & tweak & tweak it until years have passed before they finally get around to releasing it.

If Tsu's still here we'll get another (or 2!) years of "where's Carnifex!?" :lol:

It's already a miracle that Grandus Hexatron actually got released after Hexatron several repaints. And now it seems MMC is more into doing black repaints of their figures, so I guess Seraph's gonna wait till end of 2016, assuming they're finishing the DJDs first.
