I'm sorry, but stuff like this really bothers me. These toys are made in the SAME factories, by the same people. Just because TakaraTomy is footing the bill, instead of Hasbro, does not mysteriously increase the quality or reduce errors. TakaraTomy is not some magical entity that creates perfect toys.

I don't want to pick on this, but it's a bigoted misconception with a holier-than-thou attitude that I'm just tired of.
woah man! bigoted?
far from it! im basing my statement on facts. i own the orignal MP skywarp AND the walmart starscream. now, screamer is of good quality the skywarp is superior. plastic durability, paint aps, the non dumbed down sharp points. they all are better. i have also heard the same about the new MP walmart skywarp.
i also own several henkei versions of classics figs that share these same positives.
now hopefully i will be wrong about Grimlock but i had to throw out MY opinion based on MY experiences.
i in no way tried to convey a "holier than tho attitude"

Hopefully it looks just as good as the Takara version. I'm really hoping for a Target exclusive, as they are easier to find than Walmart exclusives for me. We'll see. My guess is it'll be Walmart since both Starscream and Skywarp have been.

I seriously doubt MP Grimlock will be that cheap (not that $50 is cheap for a ultra-class toy as OP SS was). Since I bet Hasbro knows it'll make a killing on MP Grimlock, I'm sure he'll cost the same or nearly the same as MP OP.

NuclearConvoy wrote:I couldnt afford the Takara version, but he was the first Masterpiece I actually felt bad for not being able to buy. I was always more of a Dinobot lover than Prime lover (granted, i do love Optimus Prime, I just don't need his Masterpiece Toy when I have so many of him already). Considering my G1 Grimlock is missing his dinosaur head and is in need of other repairs and new accesories, I am super excited to have one of my fave guys from G1 available stateside.
Okay, and, this may seem stupid, but the US Masterpieces have retained all the Die-Cast pieces of the Takara versions, and all the gimmicks right? They just dont have as many paint apps?

Heh, actually because of battle damage they have more paint apps...

Just don't let her find out, or you WON'T get MP Grimmy for Christmas.
