Dagon wrote:Yeah, but MP Primes' truck mode looks like his G1 show truck mode, which is exactly what it's supposed to be. If we need to compare vehicle mode accuracy to robot mode accuracy, then why not look at the movie toys? Excellent vehicle modes, truly. Robot modes look like a bunch of random parts, and they hardly fit back together well into vehicle mode. Now, maybe I had bought crappy movie toys, but I really doubt that MP series figures are so shoddily QC'ed. I know about the first MP Starscreams missing fingers, and MP Megatrons' 'rust' issues, but again, I must be the only TF collector who buys toys that have passed QC inspections. My Mps have so far all been fine. I don't know, I suppose if you are just anti-G1 Prime vehicle mode, then I can understand. Really, that semi wasn't a very good looking vehicle, but as far as MP Prime, I'm with Bonger. MP Prime is hands down one of the best TFs ever made, and I hate Optimus Prime. But that figure is pure excellence.

I'm not anti-G1 Prime. In fact, i'm a G1 Prime fan. It took me a while before i can accept the Movie Prime new truck mode.
It was exactly because i'm a G1 Prime fan, particularly the cab-over-engine truck mode fan, that i was so aghast and disappointed at how Takara mutilated this beautifully nostalgic truck design.
There was no QC issue about MP Prime. It was solidly made. What's disappointing is the design, not the quality.
Sure, it was similar to the cartoon. But the cartoon is still far closer to the real truck in design. At least it was not grossly disproportionate and deformed. (In some cases, the drawing is deformed, but those are due to the quality of drawings.) The cartoon version is mostly simplified.

And MP should have been the "flag-ship" series.

Well.. the idea behind the lines is different. Alt/Bt is realistic vehicles and MP is directed as being the best representation of the toy possible. I'm sorry but I think a realistic truck prime would suffer a LOT when you'd have him represened in robot mode.
Heck .. the only place where he isn't as correct as his G1 counterpart is in that very side window/door.
And you know what a truck looks like, right? how could they ever make legs out of the base of a truck without it looking very awkward?

He's got some pretty far-out powers to go along with them, too, including teleportation, the projection of trippy telepathic visions and illusions, and the ability to groove on the language of 98% of all known species. To uses his powers to the fullest, though, he's gotta be feelin' good vibrations; bad karma can seriously harsh his mellow, y'know?

Ok, I hate to seem like I'm beating such a dead horse here, but I really don't get it. First your issue with MP Prime was something about the truck mode looking unrealistic, then you started talking about proportions or something, and now the issue is that the vehicle interior is better represented in the Alternators line, which is meant to show super detailed cars? I don't know....maybe it's the general climate of Seibertron these days, but this just sounds like complaining for the sake of complaining. If you are that unhappy with the toy, then why did you/would you buy one?

I really cannot see how anyone who sufferred through the 90s could possibly be anything but gleeful the last couple of years. I mean WOW. If you weren't into BW, there was NOTHING to buy, read or watch in 90s asides for fanfics online. And now there is jsut so much wealth spread through soo many lines, it is almost unfathomable to me. The people who have rejoined the hoby over the last couple of years are just spoiled rotten and act like it most of them time.
I mean bitching about Botcon and the club?? Do these people even understand that Botcon kept TFs alive for most people during the worst TF times. That we prayed for things like Botcon and the Club for years. To see them healthy and thriving now is awesome and they can charge as much as they want for all I care as long as they keep doing what they're doing.
OK then, I think I've been wanting to say that for a long time now. Feels good to get it out.
I think I may make a new thread just for this post.

Spot on, although I will complain about stuff (Nightwatch Prime's color)I won't about a lot of the rest.
Even though I "rejoined" as well It's been great for me.. I mean.. I can't complain about the colors of MP-3 because he still looks like starscream and when I hold the original toy I can not have anything but respect for the engineers and designers working on this stuff. I don't know about the new kids... but this is literally the stuff I dreamed about as a Kid
