That red bumblebee suggests otherwise. Also speaking of G2, they did make a G2 BB as well.

Why are people so hostile to non G1 Masterpiece? Diaclone, G2 repaints, Japan G1 characters, Beast Wars, now Shattered Glass. Masterpiece has NEVER been billed as G1 only. If you don't want it, don't buy it. Why trash it for others who do want it?

... admittedly, I'm mostly going by this thread and assuming this post is in response to something here but I can't see it. Is this really a thing in the MP side of the fanbase?

Funnily enough, the authors of the BotCon 2008 SG comic story once said that they envisioned SG Optimus as sounding like Peter Cullen's Venger voice from the Dungeons & Dragons 80's cartoon.

D-max, I have never seen you this excited. Compared to many redecos of that mold, the price isn't so bad (just ask Shagaki), I hope you own this one day. But word to the wise,this seems to be a platinum exclusive so wait to see if an exclusive us retailer will have it or wait till the listings show up on e_bay before buying. I am pretty sure this will be available for 150 one way or another.

One does not understand how much I love shattered glass. I will gladly buy things shattered glass if I can get a hold of them (I am watching 5 auctions on shattered glass stuff on ebay as we speak).

But I suppose I could wait, but I don't want it to sell out either. Plus, if I do pre-order I'll do so through TFsource

Aaah, fair enough. It'd also explain why Hasbro would be releasing an MP figure in a completely different colour scheme without Takara having done so prior.

If it was like $100-120 I'd likely buy it but I really can't stomach $160.00 Plus for this mould. Even if I like the colour a lot.

Perhaps it will be distributed enough to get in a store that will eventually reduce it under $100.00 I'd likely bite.

I don't know why I completely blanked on Bee, I own both the original and G2 versions. I guess I'm a little more forgiving when it comes to something you can get for around $35 rather than $100+. At least for the most part the more expensive redecos have been exclusives so they aren't exactly taking up slots we'd rather see filled by new characters.

Keep in mind that this is a Transformers Asia exclusive which is not the same as being a Hasbro Asia exclusive. TFA is a separate third party that releases exclusives from both Hasbro and Takara Tomy. To my knowledge not a single TFA exclusive has been released outside Asia by Hasbro (aside from ones that Hasbro had released outside Asia first and TFA had a new run produced like MP Optimus Prime), though they did get Year of the Dragon OP, but that one was a pretty big deal for Asia. I'm a bit doubtful of this being a Platinum release since TFA has never released one of those before.

It is? (goes to check) I had not realized that before. Sounds rather cheap for one sicne the only others that come to mind are Ultimate Movie Jet Buster Striker Super Duper Prime and the suer expensive Human Alliance set of last year. This is rather reasonable in comparison for what you get, especially when its in the ballpark with the other MP Primes out there.

So yeah, that will not come here and will just be available through the online retailers. But man, that initial pic looks dead on like a platinum no?

Looks good, but I have a few other Masterpiece figures left on my wish list already.

TFsource just put their pre-order up. And mine has been pre-ordered!!!!

Probably just Hasbro trying to keep consistent with their fancy boxed figures. Non-Platinum releases like the Combiner Wars sets also use the same layout on the back.

Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Logan., we now know that Hasbro Asia has brought us a dozen new images of the upcoming Masterpiece Shattered Glass Optimus Prime through their Facebook page. The MP-10 redeco is shown to come with the trailer, all of Optimus' accessories - including a matrix and an eerie translucent green axe - and is also shown standing off against his positive universe counterpart as well as Optimus' other evil double. Check out the images below and see if any have swayed you into getting the evil leader of the Autobots!

Ooh, that's definitely a darker, more bluer shade of purple than the one found on the two BotCon figures.
