MegaMoonMan Generations Metroplex Upgrade Kit

The upgrade kit arrived a few days ago and I finally had a chance to take some pics!
Putting the new components into Metroplex was a bit of a pain due to the tightness of them, but once attached it was instantly apparent that they are far superior to the original pieces.
The only way I could attach the hands was to open the forearms and remove the wrist pieces, then carve small grooves in the hands (like the original one have), so they could slide into place. The hands are very solidly connected, and while the fingers are slightly lose, they work brilliantly.
The knee are fantastic to say the least! It took a while to put the new knees together, but once done, they proved to be very solid as they don't flop around like the old ones.
The upgrades don't affect the Battlestation mode very much,
but you can either have the hands positioned like the original,
or transformed for something a little different.
The ramp extensions, once attached, don't need to be removed again as they fold up nicely.
There is even a little extra space.

Now for the City Mode!
The new hands allow for another tower the doesn't look wrong!
The knees really are the star of the show, Metroplex can now transform properly!!!
The ramp extensions are a little steep, but do the job wonderfully.
Just for fun, I added the best Omega Supreme made to date, they look great together!
In summery, this upgrade set delivers everything expected and more. The hands do look a little rough, but seeing as they are made with a 3D printer, it is understandable. I really can't recommend this more, so if anyone wants it just send a PM to MegaMoonMan over on TFW2005.

I once bought from this guy. He does pretty good work. But you gotta hand paint the parts yourself. At the time he wasn't using black parts. I'm not sure if that has changed.

Looks fantastic! I wish Hasbro had don the knees this way to begin with.
Now, I just need a 3D printer myself...

Re: MegaMoonMan Generations Metroplex Upgrade Kit
I like the new knees & ramps.
I don't think Titan Metro needs new hands as the hasbro version is decently poseable & has high sculpt.
I'd prefer a 3rd party company created a replacement chrome face & chrome thighs for a cheap price. so buyers of the retail version can convert metro into a SDCC version.

Looks great - thank you for sharing!
I'm always somewhat hesitant of products made using a 3D printer, so alas, I'm not going to get these. But I hope a 3rd Party company ends up doing something similar.
The hands do look a little rough - have you considered some very light sanding/polishing?

I'm not sure how I would feel about a chrome face - I'd much prefer a matte silver (I'm thinking about painting the face myself). As far as chromed thighs, that's why I bought the reprolabels set! Haven't had a chance to sticker mine up just yet, but I anticipate having a bit of free time after the New Year.Tsutsukakushi wrote:I'd prefer a 3rd party company created a replacement chrome face & chrome thighs for a cheap price. so buyers of the retail version can convert metro into a SDCC version.

So far, I haven't seen any issues with some of the 3D printed materials I have had access to. We'll see how they hold up over the years.
For the silver face, have you ever played with the metallic Sharpies? I've probably gone overboard with their use, but when I get a new one I'm going to try it out on Metroplex. I like the results elsewhere where I've used it.

I bought four sections of ramp from MegaMoonMan and I am very impressed with them. The way the sections are connected to each other can be a little fiddly and awkward, but better that than them be too loose and not hold itself up. It's not perfect, but its weaknesses are as a result of the factory equipped ramp. MegaMoonMan also offers a ramp section with a pivot to change it's direction if you so desire.
I didn't go for the knee joints, but I'm slightly regretting it now. Do they feel like they can sufficiently support Metroplex's robot mode, Arctorro?

I haven't played with my Titan Metro yet. But I saw pics that seems like the head condenses. So painting the face would result in the paint chipping & Scratching.
I like the repro label chrome thighs stickers idea you had.
why do those fingers & knees look like they were painted with a marker or a paint brush? is that a glare from the camera making the hands look so rough & unpolished. is that PVC plastic like the one used for the Takara SCF TF 2 inch pvc figures?
I've had bad experiences using those paint markers. they never dry & are always rub off on your hands when touched. Regular markers are not permanent on plastic toy parts. they also rub off & can be washed off.

TBH I think the hands look better in person and have no plans to sand them.megatronus wrote:Looks great - thank you for sharing!

The knee feel much stronger than the original ones and are rock solid. In between writing this I picked Metroplex up by the hips and held him above my head. The old knees would've caused the lower legs to flop about, but now they stay in position perfectly, now movement whatsoever. When I get more time I'll try and take some "action" poses.Sodan-1 wrote:I bought four sections of ramp from MegaMoonMan and I am very impressed with them. I use silver sharpies on figures regularly - it's a great way to cover up imperfections or issues with a figure's native silver paint. I'm not sure I would use it on a huge area like Metroplex's face, though - the application might turn out too uneven. I'd do some light dry-brushing instead.

Well, I just placed my order for knees and some ramps. I've been told he'll be able to ship them in a few weeks. I look forward to being able to give my Metroplex an improved city mode!

Got my knees and ramp bits a few days ago. Shared my thoughts on them here (as well as my thoughts on the Reprolabels).
Short version... I like!

Exactly the upgrade kits I was looking for. Shame about the rough 3D print quality but results look to speak for themselves - those knees look fantastic.
