A Thought About The Various Incarnations Of Optimus Prime

Postby Mykltron » Tue May 27, 2008 7:16 am

Motto: "If I win again I'm still the champion. If you win HAH! that's just impossible.

Weapon: tea cup."
I was talking to someone in the pub last night about Transformers and he said he always had a problem with Prime being a fire truck (RiD). This morning I was thinking that surely most of us fans from the 80s will always think of Prime as a red flat-nosed juggernaut cab. Certainly when I first saw how Prime would look in the Movie it jarred a little until I saw the film. When I saw how powerful (and shiney) the peterbilt looked I started to like the design.
Then I started to think that surely the fire truck is a perfect incarnation for OP...
1) red
2) flat-nosed
3) bloody big
4) gotta have a powerful engine to drag around all that bulk at rapid speeds to reach the fire asap
5) what qualities do we associate with a fire truck? Couragous, self-sacrificing people risking their lives to save the lives of others.

If that doesn't sum up Optimus Prime then what does?

True enough and the same for movie optimus prime...a large powerful and still mysterious character who can appear intimidating especially if he were to pull up within a few feet of you and start to transform.

Movie prime was still willing to sacrifice himself for the human race even though they were basically insects to the transformers, they still got his character down pat.

Using the same voice actor helped a lot too unfortunately for Welkers voice well it was not too good at the time. ( Raises shields )
