Ahha, never read the armada comics. Clearly differ a fair bit to the show, as there wasn o real massshifting of minicons, and the beeped all the ficking time (and were all whiter than white and scared easier than a shy 5 year old bedwetter).

Try to get a hold of the comics sometime then. At one point, the Destruction Minicon Team kidnaps one of the kids, and straps him to an orbital mine above their base to keep the Autobots away.

Also, after being enslaved by the Decepticons, all three powerlinx to Cyclonus (the only one of the toys designed to use their gimmicks btw) simultaneously and drive him insane.

Also, Armada Unicron's Heralds were cool (G1-esque Galvatron, Bludgeon, Dirge, and Thunderwing) as was the fight between the G1-esque Galvatron and Armada Megatron.

And all that was after Furman took the writers place...

I resent that - I don't scare easy.

For another random injection, I can never wholly accept or support Minicons based on the cartoons. They may baby-bad-arse in the comics, but after working in a retail gaming store for years that sold the child-crack Pokemon I will always equate the beeping, squacking, and powerup with Pikachu rather than anything positive.

One of two things may have thrown me in favor of Minicons.
(1) One of them said "ba weep granah weep nini bon" instead of incoherent beeping. That at least would have been a nice throwback.
(2) The Autobots and Deceptions weren't out to "catch 'em all!" My apologies to the Minicon supporters, but Optimus Prime and Megatron acting as 30-foot robotic Ash Catchems just doesn't fly.

Some things, friends, should just not be accepted. Megatron being a walking wave of destruction only when he "opens a Pokeball to get out his special friend"?

Another cool aspect of the Armada Comics was the way they played up the idea of the Decepticons 'breaking' their minicons. Leader-1 going from sage Minicon leader to Megatron's pet was sad, but compelling.

That and seeing the war fought from a bugs-eye view without having the fleshlings heavily involved (the kids faded out after Furman took over as I recall) was kind of cool. The bots and the cons duking it out, with the Minicons trying to survive in the middle and divided over whether to choose a side.

Of course, the Armada MTMTE's add a lot to the comics too. They gave quite of bit of depth to the Minicons as a faction by showing a lot of variety in their points of view.

Of course - and as Transformers grow in cartoon and comic so shall the HMW - I still don't like the lil' buggers on principal though. But take that with a salt grain since it's personal given my Poke-crack background.

That being said, I think they were implementd very well into the game. When they were available the extra challenge and hunting threads were quite good. It'll be good to see them return in the right tournament or event with little or no modifications.

When they do return, were there any changes needed to make them better for the game? I don't remember those discussions.

Maybe you should just PM Tammuz about that.

Of course, one of the problems would be resolved as, AFAIK, right now no one has a stat upgraded past 6, and no one has enough money to fire-and-forget them, but I don't know that for sure.

Edit: Tekka has 6 speed, so that won't be the case for much longer.

yeah at least we don't have to worry about that.

however given no ones got more tan 20 upgrades i think being able to buy a 25% increase in upgrades is still a bit extreme.

still ask away, i like the sound of my own voice, even in text form.

honestly, having minicons would atleast give me something to look forward to spending energon on. i got more energon than i know what to do with and the higher armors and weapons are not worth the price. i would be more infavor of renaming them the various masters but either way they would just give a 10% stat boost or something.
