I finally opened my BB, and after having immense problems with it, I came to this thread. I saw that one post about how the guy used two thumbs, and big shock, it worked!

I have a thick tabbed one, and the trick here is when pressing the button, don't apply all the pressure to the center of it; that's not where the springs and triggers are. Apply pressure to both sides of the button, i.e. with two thumbs, and it works perfectly.

I came in here after trying for half an hour to transform the hood, all the while pushing the button with a Lou Ferrigno-like force, but it just turns out it's because I was applying all that to the center of the button, where there really is nothing that triggers the automorph.

If anything though, this is still Hasbro's responsibility, since it doesn't exactly tell us these details in the instructions.

Use your 2 thumbs on the button, and everything will be ok.

I have come to the conclusion that the best way to salvage the figure once the tab breaks is to remove the spring mechanism. You will no longer have automorphing, which is no big deal to me anyway.

Yeah, if you break that spring that's pointed out in one of the pictures on here IIRC, then that will fix a broken BB.

If you haven't forced the automorph yet, you can still cut the little flat tab that's shown in the pictures DarkZero and I posted.

Is there a way this can be stickied? There always seems to be questions about this and it'd probably help a ton to have it readily available.

for display purposes just stick a toothpick in the gap, works great and you would never know its a broken toy unless someone picked him up.
