Movie-style Wreck-Gar - With a new friend!

Post all your customized Transformers here. Whether it's a small mod or a true kitbash, we'd love to see it!

Motto: "Know your enemy, then crush them."
Weapon: Gatling Cannon
I love everything about this. The colors, the beard, everything.

I've wanted to do an Alt Wreck Gar as a busted up truck for a while but didn't have the time. I love, love, love how it turned out here.

My only critique is on the bike, I'd add a few more dreads to the look. As many as you can comfortably fit in the front forks. Right now it looks less like dreads and more like a balding guy trying to have long hair, LOL!!! Which works for a junkion in an odd sort of way.

Anyway, these are awesome! Good job!

Just a good idea all over.

Thanks! I've always been amused by robots with facial "hair"- Unicron, Cyclonus, Alpha Trion... I even like Classics Bumblebee's soul patch!
zemper wrote:this is one excellent kitbash. mind you, Wreck-Gar almost only bears a passing semblance to his G1 counterpart, but looks a lot more like Gimli (as others have said) but still, looks great! the orange really works well on him, kinda like the classic 1950's tow trucks you Americans used to use back then, but this time without the automotive paint, only metal primer. 8)

by the way, did you bash Longarm's head for this? and doesn't all that hair get in the way of the transformations - i mean, it might get stuck one way or another....

but anyhow, i'm very interested on what will you do next to this mod in order to bring him as close to his G1 counterpart as possible. keep it up! :D

:MAX:

Thank you very much! Yep, that's Longarm's head under there. A few dabs of epoxy putty, some carving, a bit of fake fur and here we are. Check out Wheel_Jack's custom Gears for a different (and excellent) take on this same mold.
I feel pretty good about where WG is now, so unless I get a stroke of inspiration, I'm going to leave him as is. I wasn't going for a perfect likeness of G1 WG, he's more of a "what if" design.
The Gimli resemblance is half intentional and half unavoidable. They look alike! The funny thing is that Longarm's kibble already looks a bit like Gimli's armor around the shoulders and wrists. If you want to take this Gimli/ Wrech-Gar even further there's an awesome Transformers/ Lord of the Rings mash-up trailer on YouTube with WG as Gimli!
Here are some undercarrage shots. As you can see, his beard lies unencumbered between his knees and behind his cannon.

The only thing that I'm thinking about adding to Wreck-Gar now is his wife Nancy!

that's an amazing attention to detail you have there. the dirt really looks like it has been there for years, and not a haphazard newbie paintjob! it also looks like what an aging workhorse should look like - the dirt resembles the mix of motor oil, dust and grease found on most old school trucks (like we have here in our country) how did you ever do that!

and i really like how you modded Longarm's head - looking at the stock head, it's amazing what a little bit of imagination can do...i never could have imagined Longarm's head resembling a humanoid/dwarven face.

great job! this is eBay stuff dude - if i lived in the same area as you i's probably pay you to do a custom Longarm for me this way. :D

Thanks a lot guys! Dirt sure does drive you folks wild! It's just flat black acrylic paint watered down and wiped off of the high points.

LOL, it's not the dirt per se, but the way you applied it that makes it look so natural...like it has spent years in a dirty & moist attic instead of being custom-painted to look like one.

Sweet Wreck-Gar!

I have to add yet another AWESOME JOB to the many accolades. I must also say that not only is WG here a strange and yet fitting Gimili/Mater mix, but I think that perhaps he should be playing music with ZZ Top as well.

Servo,
I never commented on this guy and his little friend. I thought I did. but I didn't. I wanted to.
anyway, a little late in the game so here it goes.

This looks great, I can't wait to see the head.

wow, you're going with real hair. not sure about tha...

ah, I stand corrected, with that mustache, that head looks effing great.

ha, his little buddy is nice touch. cute.

Servo this really is a great idea. this is one of my favorites of yours. bravo. so now that we're up to speed here. a) do you plan on building a small yet powerful junkion army capable of eliminating even the toughest stain? b) does he talk tv? c) is he on pepper?

More thanks to you all!
Now to address a few things:
ZZ Top? Heck yeah!
Scott Steiner? Gross!
(Also, the whiskers look a little pink in the pic, but they're bright red.)
As for you Wheel_Jack
a) Two easy payments gets the job done!
b) Giiii-ron-ron-nonny-MO!
c) Answer uncertain. Try again later.
