Doesn't Optimus have lips in BW, BM, RID and Cybertron? The Cybertron one even has a battlemode faceplate. (Hehe, don't forget "G1" Optimus in the storybooks had lips. In some instances, even teeth (like Masterpiece.) Considering the movie isn't G1, and they brought in design concepts from different incarnations of the Transformers, I had absolutely no problem with him having lips. My only problem with it (small aesthetic issue) was that they seemed to be placed on his chin.

Don't forget BW Primal also has the battle mode faceplate when he goes berserk in the Guerrilla warfare episode.

hence the word "almost" Also I dont' count BW and BM because according to the sources I've read those transformers are different characters than the originals. As in: Opitmus primal and Optimus prime are 2 different people.... err I mean robots

true enough, Primal is a "decedent" of Optimus Prime.

Well technically, G1 Optimus, Armada Optimus, and RID Optimus are all different people, different incarnations of Optimus Prime.

Did anyone notice that when Bumblebee parked at the used car place, the car right next to him was an older yellow VW beetle?

Loved the movie. Great that they included the classic banter between Starscream and Megatron and how Starscream "disappointed" him. Thought Rachael Taylor was too sexed up for her role - high heels on the desk, etc.... They should have put her hair up and gave her some nerdy glasses at least. Kevin Dunn and Julie White were great as Sam's parents. Funny stuff.

Just thought I'd add my opinion.
First of all after reading through the posts I have to agree with some of the critisims of the movie i.e:
Lack of character development for the robots (not a problem for me as the characters were pretty much right, though it was a problem for some of my friends who only vaugely remember tf from their childhood),
too many fleshy human types, a pointlessly hot computer nerd,
a good dollop of cheese (but a bit of cheese is good somtimes) and of course they had to kill off the black guy (well, robot).
That said I have to remind myself that this is a family movie and is not directed solely at adult tf fans who grew up in the 80's and 90's like most of us here (i assume), though there were some some great bits put in there especially for us (the old VW, the Megatron Starscream banter and lots of classic quotes from Prime),
All critisisms aside I thought the movie was great and I know kids like it because if i walk around town in my autobot t-shirt i hear kids saying "look tansformers!(<--- their pronunciation not my spelling)" it was cute the first few times but it gets kinda annoying.. and weird (ok now I'm rambling)
I thought the action scenes were awesome (Starscream taking out those jets, wow!) if a little hard to follow at certain points
At the end I had a massive grin on my face for a good 10 mins so that makes it a winner in my book but on the whole I'm mostly just glad it didnt outright suck

Damn I never picked up on that until just now, pretty cool!
I re-watched the original like 2 days after seeing the new movie aswell, 0/10 for observation for me.
P.s I've been defending this movie to the three people I know that didnt like it, can anyone give me a decent explaination as to why they moved to a crowded city for the final stand off? I know they said somthing about not letting the Decepticons move about so freely but taking the fight to a crowded city where lots of people could (and probably did) get hurt or killed isnt a very Prime like thing to do.
