Movies & TV reviews and suggestions thread

Another thing that fan critics are sorta nitpicking is the whole DARK UNIVERSE thing! as they try to associate it with the Marvel Dark Universe crossover comic thing (which this isn't at all btw!!!)

What critics are you reading/listening to? Because again, I've seen NOTHING like that.
The only times Marvel has been mentioned is when they say "They're trying to make a universe just like Marvel and DC are doing"

So, it's more that they would've liked a return to the fun shlock of the original mummy movies than anything, and that they were brendan's thing, but that's about as far as I've seen anyone go.
As for the dark universe thing, it's actually a DC trademark, a comic series (I believe), and the name of a planned DCEU movie, but it's also the name of this classic monster shared universe from the studio that made this new mummy movie, and I think there's a legal argument going down about it.
Check out Midnight's Edge's facebook group if you want, they have lots of in-depth discussions about all things movies; and red letter media did a good review where they picked apart the copious flaws of the mummy
I am not a G1 fan, please treat my opinions as such.

The ending of the movie forever turned me off that story.

I don't think I have yet to see an adaptation of a Stephen King book that stays true to the book itself. Not out of the ones I have both read and seen, anyway. I'm actually optimistic about The Dark Tower for this reason, as I thought the book (The Gunslinger, I never read any of the others) was boring. So maybe the movie will be better. Matthew McConaughey and Idris Elba are good actors so it should be fun.Ironhidensh wrote:Rodimus Prime wrote:The ending of the movie forever turned me off that story.

Been watching Glow (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling) on Netflix.
**** LOVE this show! Aside from the awesome 80's soundtrack (including "Dare") the characters are all brilliant.
You don't need to be a fan of wrestling to enjoy this show (and not because of the women either), they've done a terrific job of focusing on the women as they mix training with their lives and not on how they look.

I have this on my list.
My list of approximately 200 million shows/movies I would like to watch.
My list I have no time for.
Because every time I sit down to watch, one or both of the two little demons I helped sire arrive and demand to watch Robi Police or Tumbleleaf, or Minions.
Again.
And again.

Castlevania on Netflix was pretty awesome. Brief at only 4, 25 minute episodes but I really liked it. Warren Ellis was lead writer on the series. Lots of cool moments and great voice work.

I tossed up between Castlevania (don't have much of a history with it really) and Glow.
Glow won. Not a single regret.
Didn't realise Castlevania was so short, might knock it over in the mornings before work. The forums can just flame away.

I also have it on my list. But unlike Ironhidensh I will get to it, because I paid attention in health class.

Binge watched "13 Reasons Why" today.
I don't know what to say about this show. It was INCREDIBLY confronting. We finished it 20 mins ago and my stomach is still churning.
Fairly certain I'm going to have some seriously **** up dreams tonight.

Well if you're going to ask people to the movies you'd better be prepared to foot some of the bill!
I'll buy food and drinks.
