Well, yeah, I imagined it being like a collector-oriented store exclusive, since I figure it'd be adult collectors who'd want either of those Ratbat toys more than the kids would.Bumblevivisector wrote:Great idea, from a collector's viewpoint.Sabrblade wrote:Hasbro should take MP Ratbat and Generations (Senator) Ratbat, and put them in a sort of "Ratbat: Then and Now" 2-pack with a boxback bio written to depict him as IDW Ratbat to go along with the current IDW G1 theme of the Generations line.

Granted, they're anything but mutually exclusive, so I guess I should've said "paying collector's perspective" to contrast what an AWESOME idea small-package cassette releases would be to adult shoplifters.Sabrblade wrote:Well, yeah, I imagined it being like a collector-oriented store exclusive, since I figure it'd be adult collectors who'd want either of those Ratbat toys more than the kids would.Bumblevivisector wrote:Great idea, from a collector's viewpoint.Sabrblade wrote:Hasbro should take MP Ratbat and Generations (Senator) Ratbat, and put them in a sort of "Ratbat: Then and Now" 2-pack with a boxback bio written to depict him as IDW Ratbat to go along with the current IDW G1 theme of the Generations line.

Yes, they do. Ugh.

Simple. Because if you want new molds, new LICENSED molds, Takara needs to have money to buy said licenses and make said molds (and remolds). Need I go on?

But it occurs to me that no matter how much we want just the cassettes without paying big bucks for another MP Soundwave repaint, if they're packaged with anything that doesn't require enormous, hard-to-open-inconspicuously Masterpiece packaging, they will be shoplifted worse than any TF in history. Toys'R'Us policy is that items costing $100 or more require spider-wrap security devices to go out on the shelves, though the sheer number of high-price TFs lately has bent the rules just a tad; at my local TRU, Platinum Grimlock vs. Bruticus consistently has them, along with Acid Storm despite his lower cost, while Metroplex doesn't get them because he's usually kept behind a counter as they don't want to devote that much shelf space to anything selling out so regularly, and there aren't many little bits one would see any point in swiping from his box anyway, right? But spider-wraps are a necessary deterrent wherever MP cassettes are concerned, and they only fit on big boxes.
Actually, you know what extras would get fans to jump at an MP Soundwave repaint? A dozen extra fingertips, half of them color-matched to MP2! Complain to Hasbro's customer service about your MP Soundwave being dis-indexed and maybe it'll happen! Of course then TRU'd REALLY need to spider-wrap each box...

From what I can see transformation looks rather similar to the G1 cassette, but with weapons.

El Duque wrote:Thanks to our friends at Autobase Aichi we have some new details on Takara Tomy's upcoming MP-14 Soundblaster with Ratbat from the pages of Hyper Hobby Magazine. So far all the images we've seen of the figure feature the animation accurate purple chest window, but apparently it will be detachable and there will also a toy accurate red version. A nice little touch allowing fans to choose between the two for their displays. MP-14B Soundblaster with Ratbat is set to release in March of next year.

Metrosuplex wrote:Am I the only one who doesn't care? It's pretty horrible how Takara is wasting effort on releasing a black version of SW... when they could potentially be using those hours/budget to do a (I don't know) Reflector???? That'd be a nice MP...
So when they say "for those who want to display him as toy accurate versus those who want to display him as cartoon accurate"... is there anyone who actually gives a f*ck about "toy accurate"?!?![]()

Seriously... is there, like, 3 guys out there that prefer "toy accurate"? The entire point of the MP line is for CARTOON ACCURATE. So the whole "toy accurate" thing sounds like a contrived explanation for reselling the same SW... but in chocolate.![]()
Feel free to discuss amongst yourselves!
