Indeed. I do recall mentioning that the Takara Beast Wars characters might be in the MP line some day. Only to be rebuffed with cynicism... He looks nice. But a pass from me. Hopefully not taking the slot of another regular Beast Wars characters MP release.

There isn't a limited/set number of "slots" though. They make who they make.

Well this is a surprise. Almost out of nowhere, Takara Tomy have revealed the newest addition to the Beast Wars Masterpiece ranks, in the form of Maximal Lio Convoy, from Beast Wars II, a Japanese only cartoon and toyline. Seibertronian bacem has pointed us to the TransFans Facebook page, where pictures of the latest Masterpiece figure appeared. Said to be MP-48, these photos show off Lio Convoy in full color, next to other recent Masterpiece Beast Wars figures.











There's no word on a potential price or release date as of yet.

Yeah that second pic looks like there’s a faceplate on there! So... angled robotic face for robot mode; rounded soft face for lion mode?

Edit: yeah in that last pic zoomed in it looks like a normal lion face rotated around with golden whiskers and a black nose

Wonder if we’ll get the black crystal flash, or nemesis (leobreaker?) repaints? I do have to say design wise he sticks out a bit compared to the others- but I still really like the design.

Liking his robot mode, alt mode is probably the best it can be but not a fan of the splits/seams in all the legs. Not got around to picking up the third party effort (which looks more like a Zoid - though that is definitely not a bad thing). Likely to buy this (and then the neon genesis third party version) but it's a long way down the list of buys compared to other official transformer figures.

It was announced at the stage of Tokyo Toy Show 2019, when Takara Tomy presented, that Transformers “MP-48 Lio Convoy”, which transforms from a lion to robot, is the latest addition to Takara Tomy`s high end toy line, the “Masterpiece” series. Woah! Totally unexpected! At first glance his beast mode definitely leaves something to be desired, but it doesn’t look all bad. As time goes by, it may even grow on me more. It wouldn’t be the first time. That bot mode is so striking and clean looking. It definitely makes up for his alt mode. I’m hoping he doesn’t cost a fortune, because I think he’s a must have for me. I may even have to pick up an anime Primal now.
