Takara would like to welcome the world to the year 2010. They've updated their website with a new page featuring their campaign for this current year. One might wonder why this happens to be four months late, but when this signals such things as new toys the questions start to dissipate. The first figure meant to celebrate 2010, is a repaint of sorts. And why not repaint one of the greatest figures of all time, Masterpiece Optimus Prime!

The new figure just happens to be MP-4S Convoy Sleep Mode. This Masterpiece is meant to represent a deactivated Optimus Prime or Primus forbid, a dead Optimus Prime. Check out the figure below!

though it is a nice idea, it's riding the back of the 'black convoy' ver. too close for comfort for me.

It seems the MP line could be dead and they are just trying to squeeze what they can from what they've got :-(

Maybe they'll do a Sleepy MP Starscream? At least it wouldn't take up much space on a display shelf.

he should be called deadmode not sleep mode he wasnt sleeping he died needs some draker grey elements in other parts of body looks good i have him allready i dont small verison of him

It's interesting, but would be much more so with battle damage. I'm not talking about the Hasbro paint splashes and penciled in cracked windshields, let's see some real chunks torn out, especially in the mid-section since Prime was mercilessly pummled there in the movie.

What repaints are left of this mold now? They haven't done a clear one. Maybe a 'Rise from Grave' or 'Reanimation' version when brought back to life by the Quints? Or maybe a 'Supernova' version where he's about to crash into an exploding sun? :lol:

I gotta agree here. Really, this isn't much to write home about without any sculpted battle damage. This is just "came late Black Convoy." Although it does look like it's coming with a completely unchanged trailer ... maybe so collectors will have some reason to buy it?

The only real reason I can see this being made is to hype up the 2010 connection to TF lore. That's waht this and Ghost Screamer have in common. Although I'd MUCH rather see a Galvatron (or even a Hot Rod / Rodimus) than these repaints I'll never buy.

I like it. I wish it was a little bit more grey like the movie but, that's just being picky on my part. I'd get it but, I still haven't gotten the original masterpiece Prime.

Also the trailer will be in crystal clear version.....

Just a small point of contention with this figure. That matrix should not be lighting up for obvious reasons. Maybe it should fade to black for added effect instead. Just saying.

The trailer aspect makes it more appealing, but the 2010 pieces makes it less because all that means is it's going to be even more expensive...

Takara for the fail. I've bought 3 versions of the mold already, as interesting as it may be, no thanks. Too much money for something I have no idea how or where to display.

See I always thought that if the Matrix is not passed to another robot it would be lost forever. Give it is included with the figure I assume it was not passed in this case. Not including it all with the figure would also work 'theoretically' or one could just leave it out of the figure in the box altogether.

Need to check some TF lore.

I guess I need to check mine too, but I thought in Megatron Origins, Sentinel Prime died with the matrix in him.

In the movie, Magnus died before handing the matrix off to anyway. It was blown out of his hands.
