THANK THE LORD GOD IN HEAVEN!!!! At least now we don't have to endure countless repaints...or version 2.0 of whoever before getting a TRUE new Masterpiece. As far as the Lambo liscencing....as long as they don't use the badge, and change some small details about the car they should be able to escape having to pay them sums of money that would reflect in the pricing. Come on wordlwide release!!!!!!!!

Oh C'MON. Where's the masterpiece Ironhide? At least Sideswipes G1 toy looked like the character model. UNLIKE Ironhide (and possible remold ratchet)

I'm very curious about scale.

Will he be the size of a BT/Alt? Alternity? Or larger to match up with the seekers more like they did in the show?
Obviously, it will all affect price.

Kinda hoping it'll be the size of an Alternity, but BT/Alt scale would be OK too.
If they go larger, I'm not sure if I'll be interested.

I am really uninterested in this Sideswipe.

It's such a strange choice and if it's anywhere in line with the cost of MP-10, you can forget it.

As was brought up already, scale is going to be an issue. In line with MP-01 (unlikely), MP-10 (probably), or out of scale with all of the above? (Even more likely)

Yeah, I'm afraid the logic behind this one eludes me slightly. Maybe they've just started pulling names from a hat.

On the plus side, if Sideswipe is eligible for MP treatment then I guess there are a lot more characters that are fair game. *cough*Dinobots!*cough*

Lame. Sorry Sideswipe fans, I just don't think he's MP worthy. Alternity worthy? Certainly. But MP worthy? I'd rather they stuck with the G1 leaders. You'd think Megatron or Galvatron would be next on their hit list. Or even Star Saber and Deathsaurus; I don't know much about them as characters, but they're G1 leaders with kick ass designs.

I am surprised with this choice as the next MP.

If he is in scale with the Seekers and Rodimus, I am all over it. If he is in scale with the smaller OP, I will skip it.

Bear in mind that Rodimus changes into an oversized super sports car and Winnebago. And movie MP BB is also oversized as a car. I think Sideswipe will be similarly massive as well.

Everyone thought Galvatron for sure or Soundwave - surprise!!! BAM!!! U just got hit with the white missle!! Don't get me wrong, i'd love to see the 2 aforementioned guys too.

This opens up a can of worms for me. My modern tf collection is Masterpiece/Binaltech/3rd parties in that approx. scale. But my only problem with the Binaltech series is that they are not quite G1 accurate enough for my tastes. Now that Masterpiece is dipping into the Autobot cars, I may have to sell of my BT collection to follow the Masterpiece line completely. Yikes, and I<m alreay broke! I do hope they follow this up with Red Alert, though I think Sunstreaker would need a unique mold to be a Masterpiece. The whole point of Masterpiece to me is G1 'toon accuracy, and Sunstreaker was not a Sideswipe clone, despite the similar car mode.

^ Unless they can somehow engineer it really well like they did with the Universe mold. Considering how different their transformations really are, probably not, but it would be a feat of engineering if they could.

At the very least we'll see a Red Alert and a couple others out of this.

This may or may not have been stated previously but anyway here goes.

I'm not entirely sure this was a good/bad decision on Tak's part but none-the-less a pleasant surprise. Now if we look at the choices in MP figures to date with the exception of Megatron and Grimlock every mold used has had repaint/re-release marketability. Rodimus maybe the one that has you think twice about this but not really. With one mold you in essence have at least 2 figures sold in the fact those who want to display both modes will purchase at least 2.

As previously stated Sideswipe gives us the "autobot seeker effect" in the fact that with one mold it is almost assured we will be getting at least a Red Alert repaint. Other possible releases could be Sunstreaker, Breakdown, G2 Sideswipe and RiD Prowl/Car Robots Mach Alert.

I don't foresee Sunstreaker being released with this mold simply because he was in fact a Diablo, not a Countach and if TT needs the licensing agreement they most definitely will get the 2 for 1 deal instead of having to go back at a later date and secure the second license/pay further royalties.

I also don't see Breakdown being released simply because it would admit to no gestalts being released under the MP line. Not that any are being planned but for continuity purposes TT seems careful with this concept unlike Hasbro. So that leaves us with The G2 Sideswipe repaint and Car Robots Mach Alert/RiD Prowl. I believe G2 sideswipe will be an ehobby release and RiD Prowl/Car Robots Mach Alert being something on the back burner.

Just my thoughts and sorry for being long winded.

Forget licensing, how would you turn this:

By the by, G1 Sunstreaker was still a Countach, a Countach LP500S to be exact, while Sideswipe was a New Countach LP500S. There were Diablos in the TF lines, and they include:

- G2 Firecracker/G2 Gobot Sideswipe/G2 Gobot Optimus Prime/RiD R.E.V.
- RiD Prowl

So for repaint ideas, we're limited to:

- Red Alert
- Clamp Down
- Deep Cover
- Tigertrack

And I find the latter three highly unlikely

So I got the TRU Hot Rod, couldn't afford MP-10 Optimus, don't need the MP-11 Starscream because I have the Walmart one and the Coronation set for it, and I'm passing on this. The next MP I'll be getting is a 3rd Party Soundwave. What happened to the Masterpiece line?

surprised because it doesn't scream "repaint potential" nor, more importantly, "classic iconic character". If the Autobots were to get "Seeker'd Up" I'd have thought there'd be a Prowl/Smokescreen/Bluestreak(and maybe Jazz if they were really clever) engineered and use that to bolster the average Bots side of things. Even Bumblebee and Cliffjumper (and various repaints) would seem more likely to me, since even before the films BB was far more memorable than Sideswipe.

Still, I do quite like the character, and the idea of what he could look like. It's something I'm not super excited by, but does have potential. I'd fancy a G2 repaint, and Red Alert at least.

guess i'd have to see the toy to get excited... mp's have becme a bit tedious since the rodimus offering, which i skipped, and the 2nd prime was a bit too much. They've become too expensive and perhaps a bit uninteresting. I have the original prime, megs, grimlock and starscream... soundwave or shockwave would make a nice entry.

perhaps the repaint potential was a reason for going with sideswipe but I am very happy with the generations.

now if they rereleased the 2nd optimus prime with a certain trailer.. i'd be willing to go to the 150 tag they've been asking for of late...
