I encountered a "Bad Gateway" message when trying to access this page from the email notification about 30 minutes ago.

And when accessing another thread from a different email notification from 5 minutes ago, I was automatically logged out of my account and had to log back in.

I just completed making changes a couple of minutes ago. Please let me know from this point forward as of 12:47PM Central time on March 18th, 2025 if you encounter new errors (i.e. not errors from prior to that time).

It disappeared in a site-wide update last November.

Unbeknownst to any of you, the link Sabrblade posted generated a "404 Not Found" page when it was clicked on. I just spent the last 4 hours or so debugging this issue which lead me down a wild path to some changes I made back in 2017 (I left notes in the code that I modified it on a certain date). Anyways, it was a long winding road to resolve this problem and come up with a solution and eventually I was even able to re-address the problem from 2017 with a better solution.

Whew. I think it's all working now. Sabrblade, you'll notice that the URL you posted is different than the one when you click on it (when you click on it, it's now missing t120472s25 and is formatted differently slightly so that the 404 error isn't generated.

The other issue that I addressed was some code I wrote back in 2017 to fix the old ".php.php.php" error that Dalton reported way back when. That's been addressed and the friendly URLs have been improved as well.

If you see anything that is out of whack after all of the changes I made tonight, please let me know so that I can look into those issues as well.

Looks like we've lost the "VIEW NEW POSTS" links. Oh well.

Same with the "View Your Posts" and the Search function.

The error I mentioned above was discovered when I merged the problem reporting thread with the "update on Seibertron.com's Database Server. The discussion in that topic seemed like it was very related to the problem reporting thread. But when that topic ID went missing because it was merged with this topic, that's where I discovered the problems I just spent the past 4 hours or so fixing.

This is an old problem that didn't get fixed in this batch. For some reason the button for going to the newest post in this specific thread (ironically) always leads to a 404 error, while the button next to the name of the last person to make a post in this tread works fine.

I haven't seen this error in any other thread but this one.

Like it came up on the main page, then it came up again when I clicked on the Forums tab, then it came up again when I clicked View Your Posts. Then it came up again when I clicked back to the Forums tab, and again when I clicked on this thread, then again when I clicked on the Postreply button.

Thanks for the heads-up, Fires_Of_Inferno — it looks like our new ad block checker pulled a full-on Gremlins moment. You feed it a little code after midnight, and suddenly it’s popping up all over the place, causing chaos on every page. Definitely not what I intended!

I just updated the code so it now only shows once per day. Consider it more Gizmo, less Stripe from here on out.

On a more serious note — ads help keep Seibertron.com online and free for everyone. They power the galleries, news coverage, and forums we’ve built over the past 20+ years. If you’re able to whitelist the site in your ad blocker, it’d mean a lot and genuinely helps support the work behind the scenes.

...But I just got a 503 error coming to the forum just now from the front page using the forum button at the top.

Oh hey, while you're fixing things you want to fix my staff email? It hasn't worked for like 2 years now. I had sent a couple emails through the contact form and a post on the staff forum (which rarely gets checked anyway), but it never got fixed. I probably should have just PM'd you directly.

I keep having to log back in every time I come the site on my laptop each different day, despite checking the "Keep me signed in" check box each time. This didn't start happening until very recently.
