(my) Pontiac Fiero concept

Postby Sherade » Sat Nov 03, 2007 2:21 pm

Well, couldn't think of anywhere else to put it, so here it is. I'll work more on it later.
But, for those who don't know, the Fiero was car produced by GM in the 80's to combat rear engined imports, and yeah, the engine was in the back. Many defile it by remodeling it to look like a Lamborghini.
This version is the new Monte Carlo with light design mods. I'll be adding more later, and eventually specs and a rear pic of the taillights and such. This is my first try at something like his, so yeah.

Are you planning on doing full glass fibre on a road car or just a model?
It reminds me of the Honda CRX.

Probably not a road car, I'm not even legally old enough to drive. A model...only if I find the kits. I'd need a few, but it's possible.
The grille is off the Pontiac G8, but re angled/sized. The CRX, yeah..looks fiero-ish. Here's the OG Fiero.
The original 84....

The Final year..87 (GT)

I'm not sure if it's possible to bring many of the original style elements into the concept though. :-?

You do know the Fiero was a complete abortion of a car, right? Mechanical, electrical and quality problems out the ass.

It was aimed squarely at the Toyota Mk1 and eventually Mk2/SW20 MR2. And that's a B16 Del Sol up there, not a CRX. The Fiero was one of the worst heaps in GM's history, and that's saying something. The car was unreliable, poorly made, underpowered, you name it.

The engine was not "in the back", it was midship mounted, or before the rear axle. The reason it's often kitted as mid-engine super cars is because... it's mid engined, cheap, and nobody wants em anymore because they're junkers.

If you want a mid-engine that has the classic 80s square lines but actually was a good car, hit up Lotus and Porsche cars of the period.

I just like saying back because it's easier. And half the people I know wouldn't understand mid-engined.
And, I love Fieros. So you aren't really doing anything but pushing me to further want one.
I hate imports anyhow.
And, never blame the car on anything. It didn't ask to be built, it didn't ask to be sold. It's always the persons (driver or engineer, designer, etc) fault.
But if that's what the car is to you, then there isn't much point in making a new one. Um...call this dead.
