Probably the same reason we don't the heat-shielding from space-shuttles on regular cars; for one reason or another, we can't.

That's true, but cars never had heat-shielding to begin with. The TF's have it then when they land they don't. That would be like a soilder traveling to a war zone wear bodyarmor for protection on the trip then removing it when they reach their destination.

One question: Do paratroopers keep their parachutes on when they land?

I give you that, but I still think my point has some validity. When a paratrooper hits the ground his chute becomes useless, but advanced shielding is something that would be quite useful to a TF.

Great! then we have the infamous "rock lords" if they kept their comet modes or parts of it incorporated

A movie about giant alien robots that can scan any vehicle and change forms at will to begin with is plausible but these explanations are not ?

I'm merely suggesting that if they have protection in protoform mode from the cold of deepspace and the heat of entering our atmosphere shouldn't this carry over after they land. I mean they didn't really change anything but their appearance. And yes I realize the folly in pointing out things like this in a movie about giant, alien, shapshifting robots based on an 80's cartoon.

well perhaps so but just because someone or thing or machine has an alt mode of some type it does not mean that it's alt mode will have the same strengths or capabilities than the other.

cell phones are good for making calls but all the features packed in to them don't make for good cameras generally do they ? just look at all the crappy pictures people take to use to sell stuff on ebay.

"Glens" phone in the movie made a good phone I imagine but it was not really an effective fighting bot, it could not even break the glass...it looked more like a large irritating pest rather than anything else. B-)

Yes the did.The shielding in question started to fall of as they entered the atmosphere.

The sheilding seems to be more of a "Cocoon" that prtects who ever is inside.

If you look at the landing sites you can see peaces of it liying on the ground in flames.

Mini-Cons? I liked 'em

Killing Prime? It's usually just an excuese to introduce a new toy of Prime or something

Huge-frikken chins? Meh, they aren't THAT bad, 'cept Sentinel's, but he's supposed to look like "The Tick"

By this time it was already established the cybertronians have their own language which the text was converted to english because this is an english speaking movie.

They probably dropped doing that because people should remember at that point that they are really speaking their own language to each other but to be honest seeing text first then a translation in every film would get a bit old to me.

It's like the universal translators on star trek...the aliens are not speaking perfect english to each other but that's how the translation is supposed to be to them and the audience.

Okay I admit I've been watching the movie way too much here lately, but it's on all the time and any time I'm just fliping thru chanels and it's on I watch it. Something else I noticed, in the final battle when BB get his legs blown off, why is Jazz just hanging out in alt mode. Ironhide and BB have already transformed and taken defensive postions and he's just chillin. Sam even has to tell him to back up as BB crawls out of the rumble. I would think he would be up and around trying to help out his buddy, he is after all the one who made all the fuss about not leaving him behind.

Maybe the blast temporarily disabled his ability to transform. His null rays in G1 could interupt electrical flow couldn't they? Maybe his missles in the movie have a similar affect.

If that were true(not saying it isn't) he shouldn't have had to ask SS where the allspark was, he would have known it was in the room next to his own. *scratches head in confusion*

You also have to consider that even if the humans did say something about the Allspark the humans wouldnt have been calling it "THE ALLSPARK"...they would have had some special code name for it and there's no reason to think that Megatron could have figured it out.

And even if he did figure the humans must have been talking about the Allspark,Megatron still would have had to ask Starscream where it was at that time because by that point the Cube was on the move inside of Bumblebee.

Yeah but how did he know BB had taken it? Or that BB was even on Earth? What does he do when he awakes from his "nap", introduces himself, smashes some **** and flys out of the dam.
Your right about the allspark, should've called it the cube #-o
