I think I would have loved them if not for the Perfect Effect figures of Rumble and Frenzy. They are perhaps the only time a 3rd party has just won out over Hasbro for me.

I have to agree. If not for the PE versions I would probably love these guys, but by comparison these dudes just seem awkward and out of place on my neo-classics shelf. It's all good though, they make good WFC versions to keep Soundwave and Megatron compmay.

Flux Convoy wrote:I really like these little guys. I think they're very nearly the perfect size. In all honesty, the legs aren't great(a little loose in the hips, easily fixed) and the arms want to bend at the wrist instead of the elbow every time I want to move the elbow joint(due to multiple joints in the arms). However, the colors, the piledriver gimmick, the clip guns and the overall feel make me appreciate these more.
The PE effect guys look fine but too small for my tastes. I heard too many stories of bad QC on them. The fact that they turn into guns didn't work for me either. Given their size, since the bots modes were so slavish to G1, so should their alt modes have been. For my Classics collection I needed something a touch different. It's one of the things that keeps me interested. Sure, not every Classics figure is radically different but there's usually something. The PE versions were just too damn close IMO. Odd, when that's usually something we clamor for as a fandom. The United versions work on all fronts for me.

Misinterpretation of the original image: it showed only one tank, the blue one.
