For instance, some of the Thirteen, even in the various versions where all of them are Primes, don't have "Prime" in their name. Examples include Prima, Alpha Trion (Uniend), Liege Maximo, Epistemus (non-IDW), Autonomous Maximus, Solomus (non-IDW), Mortilus (non-IDW), Adaptus (non-IDW), and sometimes Megatronus (at least one single piece of TF media refers to him as "Megatronus Prime", while most others just use "Megatronus").
Here's another example: According to Vector Prime, Thunderwing counted as a Prime when the Matrix chose him as its then-newest bearer in Marvel G1, yet he too didn't get a name change.Kurona wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I don't exactly think there would really have to be a name change for the new Prime, as there are some Primes who don't have the word in their name. To be fair, that's just the original 13 - and while defined as Primes, they are distinctly separate and different in some way to the lineage of Primes that involves Optimus, Rodimus, Sentinel etc.

Then again, the whole "Prime" thing in Marvel was retroactively decided itself, as Optimus Prime wasn't known to carry the Matrix until after Shockwave did some meticulous calculations to figure that out, and there was a time in his life when "Optimus Prime" was but a "Lieutenant Commander" whilst having that name. Meaning that the concepts of "Prime", "Matrix bearer" and "Autobot leader" weren't at first mutually exclusive in Marvel, becoming only retroactively so years later.Kurona wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Here's another example: According to Vector Prime, Thunderwing counted as a Prime when the Matrix chose him as its then-newest bearer in Marvel G1, yet he too didn't get a name change.Kurona wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I don't exactly think there would really have to be a name change for the new Prime, as there are some Primes who don't have the word in their name. Fair, though while the Marvel stories aren't obscure; retroactive decisions about their content are so it's not a heavy amount of precedence.

My vote was for that Deathsaurus. But if not him then I hope Star Saber wins it since we already have several UM's figures. That silly monkey version of Optimus has always reeked of not knowing what to do with the TF franchise during that time.
So I want no parts of it.

Actually, Beast Wars is generally considered to be the franchise savior during a time in the late 90's when Hasbro legitimately didn't know what to do with the franchise, where neon rapaints of G1 toys rebranded as G2 was the best they could come up with. Plus, a lot of BW engineering is still used today (ex. ball joints). If you haven't watched it, you should definitely give it a chance. If you have, that's a shame, a lot of people really enjoyed it, and still do. Do you have MP StarSaber? I've been waffling on MP Primal for weeks now myself.
