These toys have no story. They don't fit in the Star Wars universe or the Transformers universe. If TF characters changed into SW vehicles, as fans have suggested many times, then there would be an intuitive story with well-known characters from both sides, even if Hasbro didn't release any supplemental fiction.
Also, they look awful. Poor design. Hasbro... why?

Menbailee is right. The Transformers brand became popular in the 80's only because they had a story and characters.
However, I have a Gen. Grievous TF that I usually put under the Decepticon faction...
