Re: New Transformers Generations Cyber Series Line

Just curious, would we be up in arms over his hallowness if he had knees? I feel like the absence of knees is a big black hole absorbing all criticism distracting us from anything else

Haha! Yeah! And plus, these are on toys we might never get. Maybe the out of reach factor and the mystery surrounding their existence is what makes us latch on. I actually think these are the best attempt at simplifying TFs for younger kids, compared to the other kid stuff Hasbro has been pushing lately. These are the same size and price as the flip and change products and I think they are a huge leap from those.

I think because, otherwise, these guys just look so awesome. They are designed well and have a great aesthetic to them. It just seems like sometimes Hasbro can't go 100% awesome with stuff. They have a quota of 80-90% awesome and cant go further.
Thats they way I feel. I do hope these see North America release though.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.
TFCon List: Classics Skywarp, General Optimus, BW Airrazor, Transmetal Tarantulus, Alternity Prime, Fire Convoy

Bot mode looks decent. Not sure about those smokestacks. You'd think they would have weaponized them.
Truck mode looks a bit simplistic and "kiddie". Looks a bit like an Optimus Garbage truck.

they could have done way more with an 11ich figure.......he looks plain, and no knees really?
that being said, he still is cooler then the first pics i saw of him. Im on the fence about him, till i see him in person, hes a pass for now.

Hey, everyone who wanted G1 back, here you go!

Seriously, though, my impression of these is that they're meant to offer larger figures at lower prices, so I'll give them a pass on cost-cutting until I'm given a reason to think this isn't meant as the budget line.

I think we're upset because while it IS kid-oriented, it does look nice! The kids were finally gonna get an easy to transform fully playable toy that we could also enjoy, but no, they decided to cut costs on a basic point of articulation. I'm 21 and still remember what kind of toys I prefered when I was little, there's a reason I'm a fan of this franchise, Beast Wars toys were superbly articulated, more than ANY OTHER TOYLINE THAT I CAN REMEMBER! So no, having something aimed at kids doesn't mean it must be simple and bricky, that's insulting their inteligence.
And yeah, the ankle tilts baffle me.

A canadian TFW2005 user, osenator (I wonder who he's rooting for in the playoffs), was on a trip to Brazil and took the opportunity to buy the 11 inch Generations Cyber Optimus Prime and take pictures of him. These are the very first in hand pictures of any toy from this line, which has yet to be confirmed for a release outside of Brazil. The user also confirmed that, as was guessed, this Optimus does not have knees.
Just got to me, he reminds me of Powermaster Optimus Prime for the knee-less legs and Starconvoy for the vehicle mode.

I'm going to say again that I don't think "kid-oriented" is the reason for the lack of articulation. I think it's because these will be larger than other Transformers at the same price, so they needed to keep the budget down.

You know, with a different head, that Megatron would make an awesome IDW Galvatron. In the current comics he's a giant silver tank. This could work...

The Warrior class figures are pretty solid, with a couple of standouts (Drift and Strongarm), and the Legion class toys are a lot of fun.
As for this, Optimus is actually a decent looking figure, much nicer than I expected. Knees would be nice, but he looks like a great TOY for a young kid. Sure, he's hollow, but it keeps the price from being outrageous.
My oldest son might end up getting this guy.

Video Review and In Hand Images for Transformers Generations Cyber Commander 11 inch Bumblebee
- Motto: "'till All Are One"
We recently got in hand images of Cyber Commander Optimus Prime, which is already out in Brazil, and now it is time to see some more from his 11 inch classmate, Bumblebee. Not only so we have some in hand images from TFW member Osenator, but he also provided a video detailing the articulation on the figure and how it differs from Optimus' articulation.
While these toys are currently available at Brazillian retail (both brick and mortar and online), there is still no current indication that these will be released elsewhere, aside from listings on Hasbro's main website in American dollars.

Just like he said, these are perfect for little kids, well, almost because like he also said, the lack of knees is inexcusable, they are big enough so the integrity and stability wouldn't be an issue, it's just a corner cut which sadly brings them down quite a bit, the designs are actuall very good, I love the headsculpt on Prime! But no knees at that size is a deal breaker.

Speculating some sites will sell these.
Disappointed that Eleven Bumblebee has no bending knees.

Plan to buyer Starscream, Megatron , Eleven Optimus and Eleven Bumblebee.

I can see these doing well with little kids, say around 5 or 6. Nothing too complex, nice size, and looks sturdy enough that they can drop it and bash it around a bit without 40 small parts popping out of ball sockets.

I still think that if this is meant as the kiddie line, the toys would bear more of a resemblance to what the kids would have seen recently, rather than G1, which matters more to the grown-ups. Since they'd have to pay licensing fees for the movie bots, that'd probably mean toys loosely based on the various offshoots of Alligned continuity. But I'm not a marketing expert, so what do I know?
