I was a naysayer from the beginning, but I might have to eat my words. Although some of the designs DO look lame to me, (Frenzy! Screamer!
Megatron! Optimus' mask! Jazz!Nonsensical scanning! I'll stop now!) the movie itself is looking way better than I thought it would and so thinks everyone I've showed the trailer. Before I was against the movie/vacillating back and forth...now it's Bay's game to lose. Well played, Bay, well played indeed.

Also, just to SQUEEEEEEZE every last drop of detail out of the trailer, you can hear the "original transforming sound" when starscream transforms in the middle of the street and flies away. Listen closely....its a little late but its there. This leads me to beleive it was not "thrown in" to the trailer but is actually part of the movie. I actually REALLY like the quiet sound, its much better than Primes, which is so in your face loud it kinda clashes with the realism. If they slowed it down it would also go with the realism more.

After about 480 viewings and one diasterously failed attempt to directly inject the trailer into my veins, I realized I would much rather get Bay's treatment, which may not be perfect (for me), but at least its good enough to get fan's arguing jucies flowing, rather than the Power Rangers/TMNT just for kids treatment.

Well in the end you are not going to like Bay's bad treatment of the transformers. Bay is the least candidate that I want to handle the transformers.

I am looking at the picture I am currently using as a desktop and something struck me as odd. The cars Starscream is colliding with.. ALL have their doors open. Well all in that shot... That doesn't seem right to me. I would think it would be almost instinctive to shut the door when running from it. Like the momentum of closing the door would assist in pushing you forward.

Just a weird thought.

Maybe...but if one is running in panic, after getting yourself out, helping your wife and kids out too, there wouldnt be much time to think about the safety of your vehicle.

I mean, you are running from death, you get your loved ones out of harms way and then would you think "oh **** i forgot to close the car doors!" and then run back and close em?

No it's not the run back and close them, but an almost automatic reaction to close the door is which I am meaning. Immediately after exiting. If I were running from a car, I could get out and as I am running forward slam the door back.

Not counting family and loved ones in a car. Looking at most streets there seems to be one or 2 people in per car most often. A weekend is more likely to have more than that that aside.

I was simply refering to the second nature instinct it is to close the door after leaving a car. It doesn't take anymore time.

Hmm...who knows....maybe the director wanted to get accross a higher sense of the cars being abandoned, so he chose to have all the doors left open, that way viewers can rest assured that there was no one inside the cars when they get destroyed, and thus making the FCC, or what ever you call them in the US (the guys who censor all the "bad" stuff) people happy too. ;)

eh... you are probably right.

I was also thinking if in a hurry and you pushed the doors open fast and bolted out, not tripping over seatbelts, car mats and junk on the floor, the door may bounce closed too.

but you are probably right. the open doors suggest. NO ONE HOME! so no one gets hurt when screamer skids into them...darn

Exactly. Although its stupid and pathetic, this is how the censor people work. I hate em, always ruining peoples fun. Like we dont already know what its like to see someone get killed. Like current world events arent as violent or more violent than some of the things we see in a piece of fictional material.

I kind of wish they'd censor the news more.. some of that is really graphic. more so than what movies are and what is shown on the news is real stuff, not creative use of syrup and dye blood and liquid latex gashes...Which is why, in general, I don't own a TV.

If you live in the US your tv is as censored and brainwashed as it can get.

But once you leave America and go back into the free world, our TV is quite exellent after a certain time at night. Anything goes, and thats not just news channels. But even they dont show graphic content like you described. Either that or i have become de-sensitized to violence and death...

Personally i dont beleive in censorship, theres this little thing called "free speech" that i beleive in ya see, and i see no point in sugar coating the suckyness that can be reality.

Hehe, and therein lies the problem. No one here has seen it yet, but ever since it was announced that Bay was gonna direct it, and people saw the new designs, rabid angry fanboys have slammed this movie from the word go, and never gave it a chance and still dont.

There are those of us, many of us, who are really looking forward to this movie and have been since the word go because we enjoy Bay movies, we like the new designs or we accept them at the least and the fact remains: IT IS STILL A TRANSFORMERS LIVE ACTION MOVIE!

But this doesnt matter to some people, they have made up their mind and will hate it no matter what, and at this point it looks like people will continue to hate it out od spite or for fear of having to eat their own words ore than anything.

there's the camera car in the reflection of the window, there should be nothing but convertible in that reflection, instead it looks like a van...

Yeah. I have accepted the movie designs as a new continuity. It's hard to tell them all apart in the trailer, but I'm sure it'll be better on screen. I like Bay's movies. Bad Boys 1 and 2, Armageddeon, (the hour long attack in)Pearl Harbour (I've timed it. And I would watch that movie just to see the attack, it's that good). The only thing about this movie I will have a gripe about is the focus on humans instead of the tfs. I'm hesitant about that, but I'm still gonna go and see this movie and love it.

If the designs were G1, this trailer would be exactly as I have dreamed about for years.

And about the car doors: If the army were shooting at an F22 that was swooping in low, and it started turning into a giant robot heading towards me, I would peg it out of there. Leave the door, it would slow me down. Although I probably would have gotton out of there when the us army turned up. I wouldnt want to get shot.

Something like that happens in EVERY movie. Crew will be visible, equipment will be visible, there will be continuity errors. If it bothers you that much, you must have a horrible time watching movies.

Thats not a camera van. No self-respecting film maker would use a bright yellow vehicle to use as a camera dolly.

I just went over it frame by frame, and as the green car pulls into the lot, in the reflection of the passenger side you cans ee a yellow Ferrarri turning, this is the same car that you see in the reflection of the window as the green car passes by.

Infact i dont know how they have filmed this. I am really eagle eyed when it comes to these types of mistakes in movies, i know what to look for and i cant see any type of camera mounts or camera operators or dollys of any kind in the reflection.

Maybe Bay knew thered be a reflection (like any good director should notice such small details) and had them digitally removed?

If so, my hat goes off to you Bay! If not, then what kinda camera did they use to film that shot?! Must be some kinda new "invisible" prototype or something, since there is no kind of traditional camera vehicle reflected in those windows!

Maybe Mirage was on the film crew and he used his hologram power? :P

UPDATE ON CREW EQUIPMENT!!

Postby Sonray » Sun May 20, 2007 3:35 pm

Ok, i can see the rig now! Its not yellow thats for sure, its actually a more tradtional, dark SUV with side mounted running boards and bars to hold the camera steady like i expected to see. Its very clevery places so that you cant see it in the reflection of the windows infront of their faces, but some place else.

I wont take a screenshit to show you or tell you where to look because you will just have to find it for yourself if you are that obsessed but it isnt THAT noticeable.

I don't live in the US. I just don't like doom and glooom. That was one reason why I chose to ditch teh tv... and that there was nothing of interest on... reality tv and whanot... I just get DVD's of what I like to watch instead.

My stepfather is anal in that he thinks that everyone MUST know. I feel if I do not know, I don't get stressed and if I don't get stressed I don't feel sick.

But I do miss things like sci-fi channels, discovery, and things like that. all the rest.. its expensive too.

I love this trailer!!!! I have been negative on quite a few things regarding design and story, and a few of those things still bother me, but, overall, while i watched, none of these things stuck out. I am starting to LOVE Starscream. His robot design still looks too top heavy, but the way he flips and flys around is unparralleled. Even the scene where Megatron transfoms from jet mode f***'in ROCKS!!!(You can hear the classic transform sound there too, very faint and a little late, but its there). But, this, is what really turned me around, when Optimus Prime rolls up into the alleyway, i got chills and teary eyed. Thats what i have been waiting for from this movie(and yes, i have not seen the whole thing yet, but, the trailer is well put together, and gives me what i want to see and feel). I would have gone to see this movie even if i had not liked it up until the 4th, but thats just me. I like to do my part to keep the comicbook movie/sci-fi movie buisness going. I hope this movie beats all the movies this summer and becomes the biggest movie of all time. It would further prove, we, as Transformers and Sci-Fi, and Comicbook fans were right all along!!! TILL ALL ARE ONE!!!!!
