Recall that I mentioned Encore Fort Max before. I paid full price for it from BBTS when it first came out, which was $329.99 before shipping (and was the normal price for those who were willing to be more patient for the figure, rather than the more expensive price for those who wanted their Fort Maxes immediately).Ironhidensh wrote:Hellscream9999 wrote:Ironhidensh wrote:That Bot wrote:Ironhidensh wrote:Sabrblade wrote:And the Encore release of G1 Fort Max has already fulfilled my need for a city-sized Fort Max (which The Headmasters cartoon spawned based on how awesome Fort Max was in that show), so this new Titan Fort Max will really have to blow me away if it wants my money.Ironhidensh wrote:Yeah, thanks to IDW, I have no desire for a city sized Fort Max.
And since her just a repaint/retool (same thing to me) of Metroplex, there is little chance of that.
A retool that changes everything but the forearms, including the transformation. It's basically a new toy with Plex's arms.
Sorry, but at that price point basically isn't anywhere near good enough.
...So, having only the biceps in common with 'plex is tantamount to being identical to metroplex, and is therefore a worthless figure...
At 150 to 180 dollars? Damn Skippy.

By contrast, Generations Titans Return Titan class Fort Max will be far more affordable, far more articulated, and made from today's toy-making technology instead of a reissue of 1987's barely-articulated toy engineering.
And yet, when I got Generations Thrilling 30 Titan class Metroplex, I was less impressed by that figure than I was with Encore Fort Max, despite all of the modern day toy engineering advantages that Titan Metroplex had over Encore Fort Max. So with my being more satisfied by the more archaically-designed Encore Fort Max than the more advanced Titan Metroplex, this isn't a matter of money so much as it is a matter of whether or not the new Fort Max can best the old Fort Max in terms of appealing to me, as the new Fort Max is far more affordable than the old one was, but the old one has already bested the mold that the new one is being reshelled from.
Therefore, because of how much I already prefer Encore Fort Max over Generations Metroplex, the new Fort Max that's being made from Metroplex is really going to have to knock my socks off if it wants to me to like it as much as, if not more than, the old Fort Max.

ZeroWolf wrote:The problem is though you can't compare hasbro releases to third party stuff as they are different. Hasbro has to abide by all toy guidelines and have a lot more bureaucracy. Third party have none of that but have the higher prices to make up for their limited appeal and limited production run.
An even better way to look at it is by the following:
Hasbro sell to everyone
Third party sell to collectors only.
Takara are different as the Japanese market is different, as their masterpiece and encore line demonstrate.
So saying that hasbro can do what third parties can do is false thinking

Ah, well in that case I think they were just peddling the myth that it was a rigged vote. Not the worse Google translation I've seen but they really need to improve their stuff
