Let's start with Repugnus as this was the figure I was most excited for. Hasbro done turned it up to 11 and painted Repugnus's head. The picture makes it look better than it really is.

Hey, they tried.

I'm not personally familiar with the G1 figure, but I feel this is a great representation. It's a lot of fun and has a decent amount of articulation. I did have to doctor the hip joint as it was all loosey goosey and he wouldn't stand up straight. I popped the legs off and slipped in a small piece of paper. Nice and tight and it doesn't affect transformation one bit.
Repugnus's TM integration is a bit non traditional because it doesn't peg in using the head or feet, but rather clips in using the shoulders. He just clips in there and the beast mode head holds it in place.

Makes a fun little seat

His vehicle mode is a a neat jet/hover/speeder thingie. Works well and doesn't have any of the normal kibbly-bits from the other modes awkwardly poking out that a lot of the other TMs have.

Weapon mode is a sort of bladed blaster?

Everyday I'm shuffling!

The TM's head has a cute/weird "trunk" of sorts but no paint apps.

That's Mr. Snuffleupagus to you

Because of the transformation joints, beast mode is quite expressive. It's very solid and just works great.

The TM plugs in the bottom of the beast mode and I had to check the instructions because it felt like it was going to take more force than I was comfortable with.

Tank mode is where this guy really shines. Again those transformation joints gives you a fully functional turret. That's more than most deluxe tank figures give you!

Weapon mode is super cool. Just a ton of blaster and missile pods, they went detail crazy here.

How about a closer look? The official transformation has the trunk down, but I like it folded up. I didn't take a picture, but you can also rotate it around for even more pew pew

The devil's in the details.
Oh yeah, they also turn into heads...

I give both these bots:
