Constructicons, merge for the kill!

So I was forming Devastator and I got to the halfway point and had a good laugh.

Just to get this out of the way; Devastator is absolutely F*CKING awesome! Regardless of which version you choose, every TF fan should experience this beast.

While the individual bots have a few spots that left me a little disappointed, the combined form leaves very little to be desired. For what I'm about to say, keep in mind that I've never seen Generations Metroplex in person. Devastator is huge, he's really gigantic. Even though I expected it, I still can't get over it. I think the Constructicons' size is even more shocking. I had them sitting up over night and every time they caught my eye, I was taken back by how big they are.

The Constucticons are fairly simple, but there are a couple clever twist here and there. They are of OK posability. Granted I haven't played with them very long, but even with elbows, I don't know how many dynamic poses I'll be able to get out of them. Hopefully I'll find that I'm wrong when I take Devastator down. Mostly what they have going for them is sheer size. Not to try and spoil anything, but looking at the pictures will paint this out pretty clearly. To get most of the team into limbs, you simply put them into vehicle mode with a slight variation or open panel.

Now that sounds like I am making Devastator out to be boring, but remember what was the first thing I said. Just a reminder, he's flipping awesome! It's the combining that really steals the show. The way all the bots peg together is equal parts simple and smart. It's like everything just feels right and fits; no muss, no fuss. Devastator feels really well thought out. He is very satisfying to build. Everything pegs together nice, tight and stable. There are clever tabs and holes that I didn't even notice until parts are needed to stay put. And then when I got to Hook :BOOM:

Simply awesome! For you folks waiting on Takara's version, it's going be a long hard wait; but it's going be soooo worth it.

And as always, a parting shot.

EDIT: I discovered the ankle tilt in Mixmaster after the photoshoot. C'est la vie

Branching out and Refocusing

Postby no-one » Thu Aug 06, 2015 8:00 pm

I'm doing just what the title says. I've renamed my primary home thread on Seibertron and I want to focus on my collection and photos. Now that does not mean we can't have fun here or have to stick to that format I just want a place to really focus on some other aspects of my interests. So please feel free to get way off topic and post random stuff here or any of my other threads.

I've got primarily three hobbies: video games, music and collecting Transformers (probably in that order). I claim no expertise or proficiency in any of my hobbies, but I enjoy each at different times and for different reasons; an amateur appreciator if you will. So I want to invite my Seibertron robuddies to share the other corners of my mind with me.

So, without any more hot air, here are the links:

That is one nice Lockdown redeco..

And as for the RID line, I asked in the big RID thread which one to get if you only got one (besides Grimlock) - any favourites out of there?

I did respond to ya, but I think I got lost in the crowd, so I'll be super cool and quote myself.

I wrote:Drift
Fixit
Jazz
Bee
Grimlock
Sideswipe
Steeljaw
Strongarm

But I think I'll change my opinion. If you ate only going get one more figure from the RID line, make it legion Fixit. He's a cool figure and a fun character in the show.

This line really is a lot of fun and it seems that each figure has at least one neat thing about them. Actually Sideswipe is a lot of fun if you can look past his arm issue and once you get used to bracing them when you pose him it's not really that big of a deal.

They all look cool in alt mode so it's a really tough call. Bee really sold me on the line, but each figure has impressed me more and more. In my opinion Strongarm is the weakest of the bunch, she looks cool but her back kibble gets in the way of poses. But she is supposed to have "wings" and the figure does a good job at giving them to her.

They each have their pros and cons, so I guess it's really toss up to personal preference, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

There's just something about Drift that I can't seem to get over. :-?
Will browse through the shops again tomorrow, and see what grabs my attention/is left.

Maybe it's his proportions? His top half is kinda short and thin with his legs being super beefy.

So I've been inside all day and I stepped outside to the shed to get something for a project that I'm working on for the house. And I was reminded of this:

Love the team shot too.

Va'al, the something about drift, is it a negative you can't get over, or a something so awesome you just can't get over it? I say try Bee, Jazz, or Steeljaw. I really don't think you'll be disappointed.

Oh ya! Cary the shots of Lockdown look great too. That deco is really cool.

Thanks, I'm trying to up my photo game a bit. I'm borrowing the mrs's camera. I tried to use her holga lens, but I couldn't get the focus I wanted. Outside of that the image looked awsome. So I settled for her old 50mm cannon lens. Set her camera to manual and tweaked settings until I was happy.

That ninja scarf is a big twist tie that comes on the brand of coffee we drink. I split it in half after wrapping it around SS's head, then just modeled it to my liking.

Dat heat wave bad. I've been hearing it's been breaking 100° all over the northern hemisphere, no matter how north you are. As far as cutting the grass goes; it's a early am activity scaring the neighbors with no shirt on.

Even hotter stuff. Yeesh. I mean, I'm headed to Italy on Wednesday morning, and it's been swelterin for a two-three months now, but still not that bad in the Tuscany area. (The South, on the other hand...)

I like the Strider remake on Xbox One. You should play it if they have it on PSN.

And the newer Ninja Gaidens?! Ridiculous.

I don't much care for the newer ninja gaidens; I "own" Strider on the PS4. I've enjoyed it so far, but I haven't been able to invest much time in it.

Maybe it will be the subject of a "Whatcha Playing Cary? soon.
