This looks awesome! I'm buying everything. Pretty glad i didn't ebay an old Beast Wars rattrap. with that money I can get all three of these =D

Also isn't this wave 4?

wave one is
Bumbble, Orion, Megatron, Trailcutter

Wave two is
Skids, Wasp, Goldfire, dreadwing,

Wave three is
Scoop, skywarp, minicons, and starscream.

This makes it wave 4 no?

Yeah, this is one of the most show-accurate toys they've made, so I'm surprised by the negative reaction.

Agreed. Everyone's always complaining, "We want a show-accurate toy!" We get one, and what happens? "This is stupid, it looks ugly, I hate it!" I understand completely about a couple things, such as Tankor should've been a Voyager, not a Deluxe, and him not appealing to others just because it's an aesthetic from a show they didn't particularly care for, but Tankor's reasonably accurate to how he appeared in Beast Machines.

I absolutely adore this Tankor (even though Rattrap is the jewel of this wave). I dunno, maybe it's because I love the crap out of tanks that's making me drool over Tankor. :-?

This would be the fifth wave. The second wave was Thundercracker and Hoist. ;)

Probably because everyone has dropped a dividing line for the new wave releases starting at the beginning of the new year and stores are releasing stuff early (which is a retail "no-no" and could actually get the stores in hot water with Hasbro) and now all the waves and the fans are getting confused. Basically instead of being "Wave #2 for 2014, or whatever number it actually is, it's actually just Wave 5 of the new releases...period. Just humans over-complicating crap as always.

As for the toys themselves I'm feeling pretty "meh" about this entire wave. Already have an original Tankor and Rattrap and I'm not overly impressed with either of these new versions. Sure they look cool and both are very accurate but I'm just not feeling the need to snag them. As for Crosscut... I don't even have a Skids version yet and, in all honesty, I am extremely disappointed that Hasbro is pumping out the repaints on the Generations line. Bumblebee to Goldfire, that one I can see. It's still the same basic character and I'm cool with that but recycling for entirely different characters has always bugged me even back in the G1 days (G1 Seekers excluded)
This Crosscut repaint is so uninspired I was ready for a nap after seeing it.
Going to have to pass on this entire wave.

Wave 3 of 2014. This is Wave 5 in the total line, but only the second or third wave in 2014. Don't ask where that distinction came from.

i don't care much for the translucent weapons on rattrap, but otherwise he looks excellent. but i'm going to hold off on preordering him until i've seen what the japanese plan to do with his deco.

Repaints and redecoes are Hasbro's forte.

I can understand that. That's why I like how Prime utilized redecoes for another character as being related to the previous character.

Though, Autobot Crosscut's always been a recolor of Skids, so this was no surprise.

I don't like Crosscut for different reasons...

Let me illustrate why I don't like this Tankor, using the actual show model:
T_arms.jpg
Arms too skinny, saw too small (not deployable?)
T_arms.jpg (74.88 KiB) Viewed 2670 times

T_cannon.jpg
Flattened sides, complete triangle instead of prongs
T_cannon.jpg (35.5 KiB) Viewed 2670 times

T_tank.jpg
Whole shape is just off, cluttered design

Those, combined with the fact that he's a size class too small, put me off. Maybe better pics down the line will change my mind, but for now I'm passing on Tankor. As much as I like the character and show design, I'm simply not going to get a bad toy just to represent him on my shelf.

@Noideaforaname, why are you using the tank? You don't need the tank. We all know the tank isn't accurate in the slightest.

It's the robot mode. W/ the exception of the blue on the legs and the cannon design, Tankor is 100% PERFECT!

Honestly I hope tankor is the only character we see from beast machines. I didn't care for the show and didn't are for the toy line. I like seeing beast wars stuff though.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

Well then, it would be in our best interest if we lived in the same area, because I've got no interest in Rattrap or Tankor, so you could have mine.

And, after getting Skids yesterday and being beyond happy with him, I cannot wait to get Crosscut.

Yeah, he's a little bland looking, but I enjoy the mold and am always up for new heads on a good figure.

That's possibly one of the craziest things I've read on these forums. When was it decided that only one mode of each Transformer is relevant? I must've missed that meeting. It's crazy to think how much money we've all wasted on redundant transformation engineering. ;)

He's right though, the bot-mode is the main attraction.
So the tank mode sucks, doesn't really matter, I mean who buys these things to display them in alt-mode anyway?

Its bot-mode is near perfect, and it can transform, sure the alt-mode is compromised but better that than the bot-mode.

If I'm getting a mainline Transformer figure I expect BOTH modes to be worthwhile. Tankor's tank mode? Not worth it for me.

The main attraction for you maybe, and probably a whole lot of people. I personally don't buy them for the alt. modes. I don't buy them for the robot modes either. I buy them because you're getting two, sometimes three toys for the price of one. Surely one of the joys of being a collector in this fandom is that we can transform our collections if we feel like changing things up.

I'm buying them for the characters, not as toys. IF I had an interest in their alt-modes, I would buy model cars and such.

Same here for the most part, particularly when it comes to Beast Wars. I've gone as far as modding some of my figures to the point where they no longer transform at all in order to achieve more accurate looking bot modes. I wouldn't make such sacrifices if they were just transforming toys to me. The character means more than the gimmick (even if that gimmick is the main attraction for the franchise, i.e. "transforming").

It is better when both modes work well, but if one is just kinda "meh", that's OK with me as long as the mode I care more about/will be displaying it in is done proper (in this case the bot modes), then that's enough for me to be willing to pay for it.

Same here, characters from Beast Wars, Prime and the Movies meed to be done as non-transforming highly articulate and detailed action figures to be done justice, there is just too much cheating and or complexity to do them justice as transforming toys. That's why Movie model Kit Prime is better than ROTF Leader Class Prime.

I still believe that they might be able to do many of these characters justice, similar to how they've done with G1 and the current MP line. I know it's quite different going from beast to bot vs vehicle etc. to bot, but after seeing the marvelous engineering and level of detail that's gone into those figures, I have a lot of faith in their engineering skills and the miracles in plastic that are yet to come.

Tankor may not be 100% perfect, but I like it, and will be getting it, probably 2 or 3 to have as a drone squad more than the general.
As far as the alt mode is concerned, I think that his head is too far forward, correct that and I think it would look much better.

His shoulders and hips. Neither allow for very much movement in certain directions.

Especially his hips, mine doesn't really stand upright correctly.

Crosscut looks mediocre, and I'm willing to bet he'll look worse in-hand. After getting and being disappointed by Skids, I am unfortunately staying as far away as possible from that mold.

What's the issue with Skids?

His shoulders and hips. Neither allow for very much movement in certain directions.

Especially his hips, mine doesn't really stand upright correctly.

Have you done the hip swap mod? it's been widely documented that Skids has an assembly error, where the hip connectors have been put on the wrong way round (left to right).
