Old TF sound or new TF sound?
Which transformation sound do you like better, the realistic metal clanking in the movie or the original from the show?

Both are good. But i'd still give the old original sound the higher score.
The best combination will be the one where ironhide transforms and summersault over the screaming lady.

The newer one is more dramatic, and it fit the movie very well. But in cartoons, the traditional one is fun to listen to.

Not bad. But only if they can do it consistently.
Anyone notice all transformation sounds are different? Even if you only focus on Prime. Everytime he transforms, the sound will be different. As if they can't agree on which one to use.

I liked hearing the traditional sound mixed in with (or right before) the shifting/clanking metal sounds. Blackout's first transformation was my favorite.

Re: Old TF sound or new TF sound?
The reason I'm asking is because I'm working on a stop motion movie, and I've found a lot of the sounds from the TF game. I've got transformation sounds for Prime, Bumblebee, Barricade, Blackout, and Starscream. Almost all of them have 3 different sounds, so I can substitute those for the TF's I don't have sounds for. It is going to have Prime, Bumblebee, Jazz, Ironhide, Alternator Skids(who might stand in for Ratchet because I can't find one anywhere)Barricade, Dlx Brawl(his small size makes him able to move faster), Starscream, and maybe Animated Megatron(since I'm not too fond of any of the movie Megs), and possibly Blackout.
Now that's alot of TF's to have individual sounds for.
The movie is basically a parallel to the 2007 movie. The difference is the Decepticons reach the Hoover Dam before the Autobots do.

But how will they reach Hoover Dam first, if they don't know where Megatron and Allspark is?
It was the bumbling Sam who unwittingly revealed the location to the Decepticons.

But after they find the location with the glasses Ironhide says the Decepticons must know the cube is there as well.

They way the transformation sound was used in the movie right before the actual transformation, almost makes it sound like it's the start up for a transformation program. Kind of like turning on your computer.

A mix of both old and new would be best.

I hated it, in the movie that is. If it's mixed it's fine, but it sounded really out of place for blackout.

Re: Old TF sound or new TF sound?
Well after watching the movie again, it looks like the Cons did get to the dam first anyway. 1. When the Bots are standing on the building with the dome on it, Prime says the cube is 200 something miles from there. 2. We see Starscream fire missles at the dam's walls, then we see the Autobots still traveling on the road to the dam.

I disagree, I think those sounds are way too distracting. They just stick out, especially the slowmo repeating version. The movie is chockfull of tf sounds inspired by the oldschool original. Every Megatron tf is a four or five step series of tones similar sounding to the old one. So is Barricade's first tf, and Starscream battling over the city. Ironhide transforming slomo while charging for Brawl is classic G1, nicely muted and mixed with the scene.
Those fanmade added sounds just hurt the film IMO. They only work well with really fast tfs like Megatron's "Prime!" jump from the building, but those moments already sounded very G1 in the film itself.

Uhh huh. but we was frozen, and pretty much incapacitated by the S7 guys at the time, so I'm not counting him.

The Megatron and Starscream one is good and so is Jazz's Transformations. They DO work in those ones, But even still, the other ones are just as well. I mean ****, It takes Prime like 10min to Transform. So in the old G1 toons they would make the sound longer. And so in the live action they made all the clankin go longer. I think If they really Tried ( the editors and producers ) They could artistically make the sound work everytime fast or slow.

Re: Old TF sound or new TF sound?
Voltes V is enveloped by some sort of electromagnetic force shield during hour long transformation, protecting it from imminent attack in its weak incapacitated state.
I think they should give Prime the same kind of protection too. Given his long transformation process. If Megatron sticks one of his metal twines or a blade into Prime while transforming, that will be fatal.

I like both. The new one is realistic but, the other sound is fun to listen to though.
