Anyone looking for symbolism in the Number 48 NASCAR. Please calm down.

They are using 3 (or more) NASCAR based cars, and they are going for the popular drivers that will help sell the movie to fans of that sport. The same reason that I have the Smokescreen Alternator, I don't care for the character, but I am a fan of the Subaru WRC rally teams.

The only reason that car is marked 48 is because it's the Jimmie Johnson - Hendrick Motorsports #48.


Not everything has to be an Easter Egg for fans.

The trailer is amazing. Although, I hope it just disappears when he transformers like the G1 cartoon rather than turning into armor. That would make for a bulky waste of a toy. Really like the Ferrari. I wish they would just tell us who it is already. Not too hot on Sideswipe being convertible... But i'm sure ill get use to it. The two Nascars... well, I'd like them to be new characters but based on how animated/unrealistic they look, I'm gonna guess it's the twins.

Edit: Three? Thats a little ridiculous. I hope they all die.

EDIT: Nevermind, I missed the other thread that had the third NASCAR car mentioned.

The Red Ferarri..., well, considering the irony that Sideswipe is the Silver Corvette and not the Ferarri, I'd guess the Ferarri is Sunstreeker (pardon my spelling)

When I saw the #48 NASCAR/ Twisted Metal hybrid, I was thinking Mirage, although that's horribly off character from the original. But the pic of the #88 from a user posted earlier in this thread baffles me. I'm almosty thinking these are, dare I say, transformers that don't transform. Ugh, I mean even for Bay, these 2 cars are weird. If they are actual characters, then this has offically gone off the deep ened as far as transformers go. How is THAT robots in disguise. That's more like "Transformers: Gonna Kill Ya B!t&h"

The whole "robots in disguise" concept went out the window years ago.

If the race cars are autobots, Dale Jr. car could be Wheeljack if this movie goes a little more color accurate. Dale Jr. car is green and white but, who knows. It would be cool if they were sunticons and we get Menasor in this film. Green 88 could be Breakdown loosely based off of G2 or, Dragstrip since he has less sheet metal making him look more like an open wheel car. Then the 48, which is silver and blue could be Breakdown. Can't wait to find out, everything looks awesome so far.

yeah but now that i know there is three of them chances are there is a fourth and optims gets his trailer to make it even between him and motormaster maybe?

I hope the NASCAR is a true transformers, and not something like the Speed Stars Stealth Force subline (I remember that Bay said he likes the idea...).
Anyway, the trailer is amazing!!!

That's quite a stretch on the 48... I just think they took a couple of the most popular Sprint cup cars and added them to the movie to give us something new and different... and if anything, are probably Decepticons!

But, the Museum is an idea I wish they would go with... not sure how many of you remember these images below, but I would accept Grimlock looking like this

Thank you seibertronians for having posted again my Grimlock!!! I would be so happy to see it in the movie, but you must know that Hasbro/Paramount never contacted Sergio Rocco or me... I remember they contacted Johs Nizzi to involve him in RotF, after having seen his Long Haul concept. So I think that THAT Grimlock will not be in the 3rd movie. But who knows... we will see... I am still crossing all my fingers.
I'd be happy the same to see a similar Grimlock, maybe they developed their own one in parallel based on a similar idea.

If you take how many years Animated Megatron was cooped up in Sumdac's lab (50 years), and add it to the year Movie Megatron was transported to the Hoover Dam (1934), it all adds up to 1984, same year the Transformers brand was born.

Do I know my math or what? Oh yeah, I forgot; I'm a freaking genius, dammit!!!

Very nice. Very nice indeed. I predict that the trailer for Optimus in movie would have him be able to combine with his trailer for heavy fire power, much like how he did with Jetfire in ROTF. And that armed NASCAR car, looks BEAST!!! Just 1 more year away from the third and final chapter of the live action goodness.

My opinion is that the Nascar cars are just human cars rigged with weapons. That's the only explanation why they have their guns in vehicle mode. Or maybe the three cars combine in one Autobot.

Ok, I dont know if anyone has said this, but IMO the NASCAR could possibly be Counterpuch! I Know there is no connection between the two but this is Michael Bay

Has anyone noticed that Bumble has a new look in Camaro mode?

Looks like black wheels, and his black stripes are now on the side of the Hood and roof. He is also a production Camro and not a concept version anymore. I know its all mi-nute, but its still a change. A good lookingone at that!

New Bumblebee pics have been around a long time... I don't like it cause it seems like they tried to make a ricer out of him... ROTF version is badass!

That's the first thing I thought of too. It might also explain why there was a ROTF lockdown toy, even though he was nowhere to be seen in the movie and didn't even really look like he belonged in the movieverse.

That's one huge, steaming platter of kick-ass with a 50 gal. drum of awesome-sauce on the side!!!

I think it's pretty obvious those NASCAR cars are Decepticons.

The video where you see all the cars rolling together it's not a scene from the movie, it's just a video of the cars getting to the filming set.

All these Chicago scenes will be about the three "stunticons" chasing the autobots down the city and causing destruction. I hope this will mean we get to see a decent car chase scene.

Which is really too bad when you think about it...

So, they're back filming here starting tomorrow evening, hopefully I see some altmodes as I was disappointed that I missed out on the filming last week, but I think I have a good shot as I work about two blocks from where they are filming on Michigan Ave.

As a matter of fact, they are going to be cutting off traffic in front of my building and as of this afternoon are setting up a couple camps across the street. Already saw a couple trucks marked "Paramount Pictures."

Needless to say on Friday when I am here and they will be filming all day I'm so going to be easily distracted.
