So, I decided to paint the dull grey parts of OP's alt mode so it actually looked decent. However, now the robot mode looks kind of patchy. Do you think it's worth it to finish the job on the robot mode? I'd have to get red and blue paint that matches the rest of him, which could be a challenge...

Try to unscrew as much as you can of the toy. You should be able to paint over those parts without having to backtrack when you make a mistake (which I'm guessing is why you want red/blue paint). If you're having problems there's always masking tape to cover up the areas that are getting in your way.

I'd probably end up taking it apart anyway... I just figured if I'm going to go through the trouble of painting it I should paint the shoulder pads red and add the blue detailing on the forearms that's missing.
