Yeah, as I get more into photography, I need to find some better lighting. I have a decent camera now. I might inherit some decent lights soon too.

You're asking me? Well, the reason I am double dipping is I like the PX stuff for my pre-earth cybertron shelf (which is full of mostly WfC and FoC stuff and Orion Pax [Edit] Oh, and I do have Cybertron Dirge there as well as the Tetrajets. I forgot about them...) and the FP stuff for my Classics Dinobots.

So, I guess that doesn't really answer your question, does it? 8)

(P.S. Good to see you in these parts, again, mooncake623. Image)

Alright, let me lay it out. My joints on Columpio are, mostly, tight. The arms are probably the weakest part with the dino legs not holding together really well in bot mode. I feel like there is a pegging issue there that should be fixed with some nail polish or superglue coats. So I have no complaints like others do on the hips or anything. I like him much better as a Classics/Generations Sludge because of the proportions in dino mode. The minicon is a neat touch, but not necessary and may end up in a pile of weapons in OP's G3 trailer. I'll be displaying these as dinos. One last thing is the metallic paint job. I feel like this is a great nod to the G1 toys.

Neptune, on the other hand, is just too wide bodied to be a good Classics representation, in my opinion. I love his large size. I love how he looks so much like the game. And for some reason, I really like that dino head. Also, to me he looks a little more like an Apatosaurus with the lower shoulders and higher hips. The shoulder to hip height differential is a bit too small on Columpio. He looks more like a Diplodocus, or the original Brontosaurus, which really doesn't exist. But, this is fairly consistent with the animation and the G1 toy. It's not bad and looks good for Classics representation. I just prefer the shoulder/hip aspect on Neptune, which isn't maybe so "Classics."

In bot mode, Neptune is the hands down winner, though Columpio comes in a close second. I wish Columpio was a bit broader in the chest and shoulders. Columpio looks like he's going to squish me under foot with that massive lower body. Neptune looks like he is going to crush me with whatever body part is convenient, even if it is my own body part...

Transformations on both are fun and clever. They do very different things with the dino neck, and I like that difference. The paint on Columpio gets the nod, but the detailing on both are outstanding.

So, if I had to rate these two, in my happiness indes, Columpio mighjt get a 9.1 to Neptune's 8.9, with the articulated neck and paint job probably being the facttors that push it ever so slightly that way. If I was going to keep these guys in bot mode, it would probably fall more Neptune 9.3 to Columpio's 8.8. I am very happy with both and hope that both companies finish out the lines.

Now, which one was going to be Paddles again? Image

Yes I'm asking you! lol, Love the sauropod knowledge you dropped there! I agree with you on a lot of points on Columpio (besides that it looks like a Diplodocus, neck and tail is way too short), After I got my replacement I'm much happier with him not that any of the joints are any tighter, I've just grown to accept them. I love the dino mode but those ball jointed hips is a huge flaw for this toy. I also don't like that FP's Slag is kinda much bigger than Sludge in dino mode, Much bulkier! Still my Takara, PlanetX, and FP team is coming together nicely!

Also glad to be missed! lol  :D

I have no idea how you could make an accruately proportioned Diplodocus that transformed. The neck and tail are so long and thin they'd have basically nowhere to go unless you converted them into combat tentacles or something.

A Brachiosaurus on the other hand would be a great transformation for a Sludge. A lot of body volume to work and a slightly less unmanageable neck and tail. The neck could fold away fairly easily like with Columpio, and I actually had a great idea on how to work in the tail- have it segmented like Columpio's neck, but for robot mode it could detach and the ball joints (which would be mounted on internal sliders) would slide in, compressing the segmented tail into a single solid piece and deploying blades/spikes along the edges, turning it into a massive greatsword/tetsubo for Sludge to wield in robot mode. Not G1 accurate at all, but I think it would be a good way of giving him an articulated neck and tail whilst still getting everything stored (and also giving him a weapon 10 times more badass than the generic clear red flachion that every Dinobot ever comes with).

DinoZaurs. One of the cooler shows that aired on Fox Kids back in the day, and Bandai's old attempt to cash in on the popularity of Beast Wars.

Still better CGI than Energon and Cybertron, as there was no cel-shading and these guys could actually emote in their facial expressions.

I'm not saying they should, infact thsy shouldn't cause Sludge is a Apatosaurus. Just saying that Cloumpio doesn't look like a Diplodocus cause of that reaseon.

Sorry, guys. When i was talking Diplodocus, I was strictly speaking of the shoulder and hip height differential being closer to a Diplodocus than Apatosaurus on Columpio. Indeed, Diplodocus had one of the longest necks in the Dino kingdom, but he's no Sauroposeidon (a relative of Brachiosaurus, one of my favorites).

Same, here. It's one less Transformer I'm buying, so money in the pocket. I don't want or need any 'new' Grimlock. I just need a new Snarl and Slag to complete my Classics Dinobots.

Okay, in the FansProject dino thread, a complaint was brought up that Neptune's head looks like it has a helmet on it. While this may be a possible opinion on the back of his head, I believe it really has more to do with the head articulation, and unless viewed directly from the side, it is not noticeable. Here are two pics showing the limits to the up and down range of Neptune's head.

Image

Image

So, in order to have this type of articulation, and not have a gaping hole in the back of the head, some overlap takes place. Could PX have gone another way? Sure. But I think this maintains the look from the game while giving us some head articulation, particularly since there is no neck articulation.

Image

Ooohhhh, if it comes out for all of you, here's a screenshot from the game when Grimlock and others are looking at the holographic Sludge. There's a great closeup of the back of the head, complete with helmet like structure. Way to go, PX, way to go!!
