Excellent review. :) That's about how I see him. He's Swoop for my Classics lineup and fits in just fine for my tastes.

As the announcement... I'll be passing on their Grimlock, since the Hasbro version is great for me. The others? MINE!

I find it a tiny bit redundant that the dinobots would have 2 long necks in the crew, based on what little I know about paddles he was something of an alternate universe version of Sludge anyway. Still, I think it would be interesting to see that character rendered in plastic. Go Paddles!

Paddles was a plesiosaur, IIRC. So, it should be enough different, though I can see it being easier on Planet X because of potential similarities in transformation. On the other hand, how useful will Paddles be in dino mode on the surface of Cybertron. Perhaps he can survive in the sea of rust. (I have not read the fiction yet...)

From what I've read on TFWiki he only exists in a short story in the Transformers Legends Anthology from 2004, the continuity of which appears to be rather nonsensical. Basically think of the Dinobots from the G1 cartoon, except the first batch of Dinobots excised Sludge entirely, and the second batch placed Paddles instead of Swoop. Nothing to do with any of the FoC/Prime continuity stuff as far as I know, as there's only one Paddles listed on the Wiki.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Paddles_%28character%29

Granted, I'm just parroting what little it says on the wiki about him, if someone out there has actually read the story and knows more about him, feel free to correct me.

I really wish Planet X would clarify in plain English exactly how many of the Dinobots they're making. I got a refund on Caelus because I just couldn't deal with that lump of a tail on Hasbro's Grimlock.

What does Grimlock's tail have to do with getting a refund on Caelus?

I think Sodan thought Planet X weren't making Grimlock. I think, that as a result of this, and his displeasure with Hasbro's version, he decided against collecting the set of FOC Dinobots. I think he's voicing his wish that PX would have made clear their intent to make their own Grimlock, that he could have kept Caelus and waited to collect the whole set. I think.

I guess if that no-one else was going to come up with a better FOC Grimlock, it was a deal-breaker to getting any others. I can just about live with the tail, the huge gap in the belly, on the other hand...

I can live with both, but if Planet X does a Grimlock then Takara's is getting replaced on my FoC shelf (or at least is getting transformed into dino mode and placed elsewhere :P).

I'm not sure what I think about that. I got Grimmy's upgrade kits and now he looks pretty damned good. I'm hesitant to replace him entirely, but time will tell.

Hopefully if they do decide to do Grimlock as well, they will do him last so the rest of us who are satisfied with the FoC version won't have to wait.

Yeah, I can't blame you for that. I never snagged any of the upgrade kits because they didn't do enough to him for my tastes. If Planet X does him up right (soooper game-accurate) then I'll totally bite. These guys have really got my number with their WfC/FoC stuff so I just can't resist :P.

So is this planet X's way of telling us that the Dinobots won the recent poll & WFC FOC Trypticon lost? I was more looking forward to P X creating a newer Trypticon instead.

Is there a desperte need to create Five 3rd party Dinobots toys? Didn't HasTak make enough of these Already,With BW,BM,Neo,Universe,TFA,AEC,MP,FOC & The TF4 Dinobots?

Is P X creating a brand new FOC Grimlock? or adding parts & fixing the Hastak version?

Is Paddles suspose the be the Dinosaur species similar to the Loch nest monster? or one of the Dionsaurs species used for the BW Neo Magmatron combiner?

I'm probably going to be buying the TF4 Dinobots toys instead.

If HasTak wants to create a perfect voyager scale Grimlock toy. Why not just downsize the MP Grimlock to Voyager scale.

Whatever happened to TFC's Dinobots Combiner? is it still getting created?

Most likely
I was more looking forward to P X creating a newer Trypticon instead.

I'd like one too, but I'm patient.

Is there a desperte need to create Five 3rd party Dinobots toys?

Yes. We haven't had a recreation of the original 5 Dnobots since G1.
Didn't HasTak make enough of these Already,With BW,BM,Neo,Universe,TFA,AEC,MP,FOC & The TF4 Dinobots?

Some of them are pretty good, but none to date are truly "Generations" feel to them. Although we haven't seen the TF4 dinos yet, I suspect they won't fill that niche either.

Is P X creating a brand new FOC Grimlock? or adding parts & fixing the Hastak version?

Dunno actually. Speculation is heavily weighted on a brand new one, since a couple other groups have released some pretty good upgrade kits.

Is Paddles suspose the be the Dinosaur species similar to the Loch nest monster? or one of the Dionsaurs species used for the BW Neo Magmatron combiner?

I believe he's based on the Plesiosaurus.

I'm probably going to be buying the TF4 Dinobots toys instead.

Your collection, your rules.

If HasTak wants to create a perfect voyager scale Grimlock toy. Why not just downsize the MP Grimlock to Voyager scale.

Because Hasbro doesn't aim for perfection, they aim for "close to source material" which in this case is Fall of Cybertron designs.

Whatever happened to TFC's Dinobots Combiner? is it still getting created?

I'm very curious to know that myself.
