With Classics I feel there's not really a 'bad' mold (okay.. maybe Octane), but there's one that always seems to bug me. I really think if it wasn't for Protector, Deluxe Rodimus would just be meh. To me, the mold has odd proportions, feels flimsy and just not great for a marquee character.

Do you guys think Rodimus needs a new mold?

While I believe a new Rodimus mold is needed, I guess there are some who would rather have the slot used for another G1 character who has yet to get any modern love. And the Protector upgrades sure make a good case for a perfect Rodimus.

I was thinking since the Masterpiece toyline looks to be on it's way to making a bigger impact on our shelves that perhaps MP-09 would eventually be the Rodimus. But an Autobot cast that still features such a wide gap in scale until more Masterpiece figures are released, I guess Rodimus would be out of scale.

I still wish they would re engineer the G1 figure to remove his being a brick and add more POA. Still the best one me.

Btw Blurrz, don't you consider his KissPlayers version also a "Rodimus"?

I think if we're talking about Hot Rod, then I would certainly like to see him get a new mold. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the alt mode of the Classics version (God knows I have enough of them

), but I would have liked a Voyager sized toy for Rodimus Prime and perhaps a larger Deluxe/small Voyager for Hot Rod using a new, better mold (I'm sorry, but the bot mode kinda sucks).

I have the Protector set (the clear one to go with my Sons of Cybertron Rodimus/Hot Rod) and I display that in vehicle mode and it looks awesome. The bot mode with the Protector armor just doesn't give me enough of a Rodimus Prime vibe (even though it is Classics and all). I think it just looks too 'chunky' to be Rodimus Prime. He's supposed to be kinda slender in my mind, just a slightly taller Hot Rod in bot mode.

You one thing that made curious?People mostly say they didnt like Rodimus Prime vehicle mode and that Hot Rod's one was cooler,but then Protector comes out and everyone is like"I must have it" :-?

He's gotten far too much attention the last couple of years, if it wasn't for Drift, he'd be at the top of my "wish he never existed" list.

So I don't think he needs a new mold because of that. Let's give attention to some other characters, like perhaps some more Decepticons perhaps?

Though if they were to do another version of him, i'd like to see not "Hot Rod" or "Rodimus", i'd like to see Rodimus Prime. With his trailer that he can combine with. He doesn't need to be able to go back and forth between "Hot Rod" and "Rodimus Prime", just be the one character.

I more or less agree.

The "Classic" Rodimus suck hard. I hate the MP. I don't know what the other are.

What I'd like to see is a new mold for Rodimus. Add the trailer Acessory and make the bot being able to be more bulky and tall for a very cool Rodimus Prime. The lone Rodimus would be deluxe sized and the whole package would be voyager size.

well I only consider classics rodimus to be hot rod. so I would love to see a just plain rodimus prime voyager.

I don't see a problem with the Classics mold. I have the Battle in Space version and the green E-hobby version and had to resist the UN version. I like him.

I think the MP is great (with my shoulder mod) but a new Classics mold would be great. The Classics version is quite good looking but has such poor poseability and the FP armour just ruins the leg proportions.

The most poseable is the Bin/Alt mold, it's just a shame his thighs are so short.

I don't mind the Classics Hot Rod toy. Not that much anyway. It should be quite telling though, that despite TF:TM being one of my favourite films ever, not to mention one of my favourite pieces of TF fiction ever...that I didn't buy any version of it until Protector came around.

Protector itself is fine. He doesn't just look like a taller, older, more whiny version of Hot Rod, no, but I don't mind that much. I think it's actually a better interpretation of the character of Rodimus Prime than just having the same robot mode model as the un-Matrixed version. Quite tempted to get the weird coloured United Rodimus to put in Protector, but yet to find any pics of it to help me decide.

For Hot Rod though, the only version that I feel has been actually really good is the MP. The Takara MP at that. Because it has the colours right. Hot Rod in the cartoon (and comic, even if it was different) was always pink/magenta, rather than just plain red. The MP designs are obviously going to be the most toon accurate, but the colour, along with the shape of the car, are the only ones to really capture the character properly.

I'd love a newly designed Classics Hot Rod. In the right colours, with something as close to the original alt-mode as possible. Deluxe scale would be fine, with the engineering and posability of the modern line. Jazz, Wheeljack, Drift, etc. are all miles ahead of the current Classics Rodimus in all respects. If HasTak wanted to create a Voyager Rodimus Prime toy that had a proper Deluxe sized Hot Rod that joined up with a trailer to be Rodimus Prime then that'd be just as good, if not better, but I'd really just like a nice articulated, reasonably accurate version of the character to go with Gen Kup, etc.

Oh, and despite all my "Geeewun!" talk, I actually really liked the Energon Rodimus with the truck alt mode. Just felt he was maybe a little too similar to Optimus. Could definitely see him taking on that kind of mode at some point though.

Classics Rodimus as Hot Rod is great. I don't see why he gets so much hate; he's great for the characetr. I voted Protector because he makes a great Roddy Prime. I don't think we really need another of either hot Rod or Rodimus Prime. It's a slot best left to another character.

BTW, Titanium Rodimus makes for a great Rodimus Prime. He was what i used until protector came out.

I agree. To me classics Rodimus is a pretty good Hot Rod.

I like the protector armor, they nailed the vehicle mold, but there is something too blocky about the robot mode. There is definitely room for improvement by an official version.

They definitely need an official voyager Rodimus Prime and Galvatron.

To me, the Classics one is not perfect but good enough for Hot Rod. Then added FP Protector to make him Rodimus Prime and I'm calling it done. I wish to see more other characters being made instead of remake the old one.

As long as it's not a 3rd Party Rod, whatev... I'm fine dishing out another $10 or 20 for a new, official Roddy, but definitely don't think it's necessary. I'd rather the spot in the lineup go to a character not yet released. Blitzwing, anyone?

I agree that the classics mold nailed the alt mode, in fact, i feel it's the best interpretation of the mode since G1. The bot mode is o'k i guess but leaves something to be desired in my opinion. It doesn't really capture what his bot mode looks like. It's the arms that kill that bot mode.

The MP version is just a little off to me in Hot Rod alt mode to a point that i actually don't like it.

But MP nailed the bot mode for both Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime. I don't think you'll top it with a new mold. I'd like to see it though. But i don't really need another HotRodimusPrime release. I too would like to see a new character get a classics treatment.

A Swoop would be nice. But a good one. With a sword like the good old days. Or a Motormaster. With a big sword. :twisted:

What I would like to seee them do is make a remold of Classics Rodimus with the ability to do the change from Hot Rod to Rodimus Prime like the MP. With the exception of the gaping hole and slightly odd proportions I liked the Titanium Rodimus Prime mold. They had the right idea if they had just gave it a little more thought they could have made him a nice voyager size.

By far though MP has it all the way. I wasn't too impressed with Protector like I thought I would be but it's still a very odd effort to work with the existing classics mold.

Unless I hear other wise I am going to assume MP Rodimus is their shining achievement for the mold.

I like the idea of reengineering the G1 Prime mold for more articulation. Maybe chrome the face.

I wouldn't mind a repaint of Cybertron Clocker/Swerve. Maybe retool him, removing the cyber key gun and windshield, giving him a removeable spoiler/roof/windscreen that doubles as a large arm mounted shield in bot mode.

If Masterpiece Hot Rod was scout size, he's be perfect.

I too like the Energon Rodimus mold and the Mega SCF Hot Rodimus who looks nice with the Diclones in bot mode.
