We had some turrets in a tournament a long time back that only targeted cons... I don't remember if they did strafe damage or not though. AOE weapons would probably require new code.

In my mind, the easiest thing is to copy and paste the strafe code into the weapons section and replace a few words for it to work. The only question is how to keep track of ammo used. I can see that being similar to the recharge part.

Has AOE weapons been tried yet? What I'm thinking is grenades, rocket launchers, exploding disc launcher (G2 laser optimus prime), frag grenades, needles (halo), and other such weapons.

Well, we didn't win any weapons, guess we'll just have to wait and see what the other side comes up with... unless anyone wants to give them a copy of our suggestion list, see if there's anything they like on it?

True, 'Rocket Punch' is a mecha classic from Sci-Fi to Anime and everywhere in between...

Another bunch of ideas;
  • Electro-Static Shotgun (Or 'Torpedo', if any it's felt we have too many shotguns. I almost didn't remember there was actually a show where they had 'Electro-Static Torpedeos' until after I had come up with the shotgun idea...)
  • Broadcast Energy Transmission Beam
  • Improvised Melee Weapon (Another one that's technically a classic of giant robot combat)
  • Dark Matter Warhammer
  • Neutron-S Missile (*whistles innocently*)
  • Omni-Directional Electric Discharge

I think in trying to be inventive/original we'll also miss out on some classic mecha archtypes lick 'Rocket Punch' or 'Drill Punch'.

All things aside, I like originality and a certain degree of irony ;) "Seismic Sledgehammer" is extremely generic. There were a lot of good suggestions made earlier in the thread. Maybe we could choose multiple options and hold a poll? Or choose multiple options and then decide as a group?

I think it's a one-off thing that Burn (and maybe other mods, back when more played) use, though, not for general consumption.
