or do I?
Hyper-Chicken wrote:It should be noted that before everyone runs out to check their local WalMarts that unlike Target Walmart clearance items and prices vary from store to store.
Case in point - last week my son picked up TFA Swindle and Blurr at one Walmart on "clearance" at $5 each (clearance in terms of the aisle reset at this particular store). Other Walmarts still had TFA at full price ($9.96 or whatever).

Do they send it back? I ask because back around Christmas when WM got those huge TF isle units with Ultimate BB, my WM could not sell them. They eventually got moved to a flex area, but never marked down. I figured they would eventually put him on clearance and then I would pick him up. Not the case one night they had 6 the next morning they were all gone. Where did they go?
Sad thing is, Wal-Mart trashes whatever doesn't sell on clearance. They mark items down to their decided minimum, add a timeframe, and then off to the dumpster.
I suppose regular inventory may be different, but I know for a fact that this is the case with all holiday products.

I don't know about other retailers, but Wal-Mart's leftover holiday themed merchandise (Christmas, Valentine's, Easter, etc.) is marked down to 50%, then 75%....and then after a selected timeframe, whatever hasn't sold is trashed.
I know someone who saw 14 pallets of *new* wrapping paper being thrown away. Holiday candy, fresh flowers, new bikes with minor damage or scratches, all thrown into the garbage.
They can write it off as a loss if they trash it. Can't they donate it to charities? Can't they recycle? Nope; they can't write it off then.
I'm not certain, but I would assume it's the same with all other clearance items. Ridiculous, isn't it?

i worked at sam goody a long time ago and they had the same prosses for things that didnt sell, but before throwing it away we had to destroy the items. pretty f-ing lame, but it was fun demolishing a karaoke machine with a hammer!i also took a bunch of DBZ toys out of the package and put them in a seperate garbage bag and put it next to the dumpster and got it after work
