Well I like it, would free up the mold for Dreadwind and Treadshot, and a little more convienent helmet design. Want urther picures, at least the bot mode shoulders appear to integrate better than Silverbolt did at least...

One way or another, I will own at least two of this figure. I still love my Classics Jetfire, but this Leader Class Generations is too awesome.
It looks like most of the jet mode folds up on to the back. That's okay, as long as it isn't too back-heavy to stand. I like the way they did the battle helmet in robot mode and I don't mind the fake jet nose as his chest, as long as there isn't excessive kibble that hinders poseability. It doesn't look like that is the case.
I want to see this with the boosters attached to his back. It looks like they are included there in the picture. I wonder if it has any other detachable armor pieces?
Anyway, can't wait -- will buy on sight!

Yeah I'm starting to picture this epic battle between this Jetfire vs. My MP Thunder Cracker and maybe my Rotf Leader Starsream
So far this year the figures that I'm buying for sure is Mp WheelJack, Leo Dux and most likely this.
The only deal breaker would be his feet. I hope his feet are not like the thruster feet on that classics voyager one which are not to good because the figure is not very stable standing. Its not a wobbler but its not the stabilist of figures. And given the leader size of this mold thruster feet would not be a good combination with that. But time will tell and for rite now this is on my to buy list.

i'm still a little skeptical.. i hope it's real, it looks great.. and it's the perfect size for a classics display.
you do understand that this is generations right?.. not G1 or masterpiece.. these are supposed to be updates of classic characters, not faithful G1 representations.
because the voyager sucks.. its legs are horrible and it likes to fall over too much.

Waspinator got to be show-accurate, and several others in the line are either game-accurate or comic-accurate. Being "Generations" doesn't really mean anything much anymore since the line keeps changing its rules and aesthetics.TimothyR wrote:you do understand that this is generations right?.. not G1 or masterpiece.. these are supposed to be updates of classic characters, not faithful G1 representations.

Better be more reasonable in production or I'll just have to stick with my Classic version.

I just noticed that, since this wave will contain new G1-based Jetfire and Megatron toys in a class called "Leader", this is sorta like a comeback of Milton Bradley's making Jetfire the Autobot Leader who opposed the Decepticons' Leader Megatron.

Wasn't that only the case in the Netherlands tho, where the name "Optimus Prime" wasn't available for our beloved leader?
*EDIT* My bad, our case was Optimus Prime actually being called "Jetfire" in the comics.

I looked into it deeper, and it turns out, that the G1 Optimus Prime toy could not be released in Europe by MB! Joustra's Diaclone line was the culprit, in which Diaclone's Battle Convoy (Optimus Prime's ancestor) was released. The same toy in two different lines was a no go, especially when it came to licensing (Joustra already had the licenses, Hasbro fished behind the net for Europe on this one)
And comic? It's Dutch!

It was mainland Europe in general, where the Jetfire toy was sold as the leader since MB didn't have the Optimus toy at first. Popular theory is due to rival company Joustra owning the EU rights to the Diaclone molds at first, only later allowing MB to sell the Diaclone-based TFs (including Optimus) in later waves.
The comic itself was published in German, Dutch, and Spanish versions.

The Tomy version will most likely sport a more cartoon like deco. Remember the henkei version?
On the 2006 mold, awesome as it was, it still beggars the imagination why Skyfire got to be a Voyager size and Powerglide an Ultra
The result got him too small on the leg department with a too fat a body.

I considered that, but lately TakaraTomy seems to be going more for toy-accurate decos instead of show-accurate.fenrir72 wrote:The Tomy version will most likely sport a more cartoon like deco. Remember the henkei version?
Simple. Classics and Universe were two separate toylines with different mindsets at each's time. For Powerglide, they wanted a more realistic size for the A-10 Thunderbolt, and simply weren't thinking about the Jetfire toy made two years earlier for another toyline.fenrir72 wrote:On the 2006 mold, awesome as it was, it still beggars the imagination why Skyfire got to be a Voyager size and Powerglide an Ultra![]()

And look how it turned up? I mean, if you want to sell a product, why risk a 2nd/3rd tier character when Jet/Skyfire, a more popular fig/character (I don't disparage the braggart that is Powerglide but between them, I choose the F14 over the A-10 Thunderbolt) would be an assured sale? Anyways, water under the bridge.
You have a point though, with the G1 toy motif but in Skyfire's case, they might go more via the henkei style of deco.
Either way................SOLD!

Yeah, it's cuz they already made a Jetfire toy (even if it would be smaller than the toy they were gonna make next at the time), so they went with someone they hadn't made yet: Powerglide.fenrir72 wrote:And look how it turned up? Believe me, I'm hoping Takara goes back to doing show-accurate decos, as they could really do such wonders with this mold in show colors.fenrir72 wrote:You have a point though, with the G1 toy motif but in Skyfire's case, they might go more via the henkei style of deco.

With that jet mode I'm wondering if this can even be released in Japan. It would be foolish if it couldn't be, but I suspect Bandai would take exception to that alt. It would be annoying if the Japanese version was not just repainted, but remolded, too.

Seems too fake with the robot mode having a different looking cockpit and front end than the jet mode. I don't really want one that looks like a tomcat tho, as I want a huge jetfire that has more of a giant alien fightership look from G1 more.

Jetfire is the best of both versions. I prefer the toy alt mode but prefer the cartoon robot mode. This is absolutely going in my collection. Hey Hasbro, do what you want with the kids movie line, just get us collectors this amazing leader class toy pronto.
Watch the first of my youtube series, Friends Transform.

Not sure what to make of that. It's a nice design but I'm still pretty enamoured with the Classics figure.

This is really cool. It is kind of like an alternative universe. I suppose fictionally it is an alternative universe. But it is interesting when it wasn't done purely to have an alternate universe. It was a different approach for necessary reasons. It is interesting to see how things could have been significantly different and to see the foundation that G1 laid down for the franchise.
