Are you pretending that the Alternity story made sense? That's crazy! I think you're forgetting two things:
1) it's a multi-dimensional story with time travel and so there could be many side stories not yet told
2) HasTak love the chance to get more money out of the same figure.

Remember the news we brought you yesterday about Takara's Alternity line coming forward with a set of four repaints? Looks like our source was right on the money with their identities! The Allspark member Meister79 has received a Takara solicitation that lists the figure's identities and release dates. The list, which is mirrored below, also includes a couple of Disney Label Mickey Mouse Trailers one being a Christmas deco, MP-9B Black Rodimus Convoy, the recently revealed Encore releases, DA34 Leadfoot, DA33 Jet, Deluxe Black Sideswipe, and a lower priced Starscream.

WTF? Black Jetwing is as pricy as Black Rodimus? Is it supposed to be some exclusive? Because I don't think a slightly remolded version of ROTF Prime + Jet parts worth as much as a repainted MP Rodimus :BANG_HEAD:

Yeah, but the way it ended brought all of the time-travelling to a halt. If this were to just be a bunch of side stories, it'd be pretty lame for the likes of Dai Atlas and Galvatron to have only played minor roles in unimportant events compared to those of the main story with the other major characters (seriously, how is Rewind a more important character than these two?).

well, the "regular" jetwing prime is almost the same price as "regular" MP-9, so it makes sense. i'd prefer the black vers. but i'm gonna wait to some pics before cancelling my reg. vers. preorder

No, Leadfoot is supposedly a "new mold" but there will be a black Sideswipe repaint. Why the hell would Leadfoot be all black, he's red..
