A few tidbits I found watching the Season 2 DVD's

1. The Golden Lagoon: Upon discovering the electrum-filled lagoon, Beachcomber exclaims "Great Maximus!". I thought about this for awhile and came up with a couple of nifty theories based on this.

My fanboy theory: If you consider the Japanese Headmasters cartoon to be the official continuation of the G1 cartoon, you could say that Beachcomber is referencing Fortress Maximus. I may be wrong on this, but Fort Max was never referred to as "Maximus" in Headmasters, just "Fortress". The problem with this theory is like the "Did Dion become Ultra Magnus?" theory, because Fort Max wasn't conceived as a character yet.

My logical theory: The movie script is being bounced around while this episode is being produced, and Metroplex was originally going to be called Fortress Maximus. The writers had a new name/reference to use in the cartoon continuity.

2. Prime Target: The jet that Lord Chumley steals is being flown by a member of the October Guard (that may be Oktober with a 'K', I'm not sure about that one). The Guard is a recognized part of the GI Joe continuity, which creates another Joe/TF cartoon connection.

3. Triple Takeover: After the Decepticons finish their little quarrel at the end, only Megatron is left standing (big surprise). The other Decepticons flying overhead ask Megatron if he wants them to destroy the traitors, to which Megs responds "No. The Decepticon cause supercedes personal vengeance". Either Megatron said no because that would mean wiping out the majority of the earthbound Decepticons (which would be a really stupid move), or this is a credo that Megatron takes to heart and bears in mind while putting up with Starscream's constant attempts to usurp him.

You do know the thought process behind every episode of transformers was "Lets do something cool...... and who cares about reality, the viewers are children, they wont know the difference"

But they didnt want to kill characters in the series, only the movie because they thought as long as the characters are still alive, maybe the toys will still sell.
