Well, Imma go w/ the dude that started the topic. I dont like the colors, and the big issue I have w/ him is that, he's not as tall as MP Optimus Prime or Meagtron. I really hope that Takara does a anime recolor.

Have you seen how HUGE his alt mode is? Any bigger and they'd struggle to find a box that'd fit. (OK so he isnt quite the size of supreme SS, but he does take up more space than Prime does in ALT mode, and going by your logic, he should actully be something like twice Prime's hight to be in scale with prime. Jet fighters aint small.)

I have to say Im still not impressed with the colours, not so much the choice of colours, but the positioning. The lower chest is entirly wrong, as the crotch, and the legs are too plain. But still, THE best transformation ever to grace plastic.

And for all you 'no diecast' whingers, grow up, you cant achive the lever of detail and fiddlyness SS has with 1980s toy materials. Prime gets away with it because he already had a pretty solid and simple transformation that just needed tweaking to make him look more cartoon like.

One thing that does bug me about SS's design.
The arms.
The altmode sides should really have been on the underside of the arms, not the sides, then there would be no need for a random hole in the side of the altmode (for the guns in robot mode).

Oh, I also forgot. I liked the early prototype version a little better...SS doesn't have diecast. Well, if he did have diecast he would probly have a problem standing up w/ out the stand.

He kindah as a problem standing up anyway, not the best foot design lets say... which is the real reason for the stand...

The only thing I never understood about the arms was the two random peg holes on the top corner of the shoulders. Were they put there for a cape that never made it to the final stage or what? What I mean by that is the shoulder pads and cape combo from his coronation. I know the swivle up and down but for what reason? It's always bugged me.

That is my guess. His prototype pictures did show him with a crown. I am surprised that no one has kitbashed a crown or cloak yet.

Regarding the plastic and die-cast. MP Starscream does contain die-cast but not on the same level as MP Convoy. The internal frame is die-cast.

I like die-cast figures, but I agree that a lot of detail would have been lost if Takara made him out of die-cast. A fair bit of his standing issue has to do with his hips and legs. MP Starscream's legs do not have as much articulation as MP Convoy. This largely due to hip fins and ball and sockets, which was later design.

I think that another reason diecast wasn't used was the amount of chipping that would take place - the whole wing assembly would chip off in no time.

I really like my MP Starscream, even if the plastic quality is sometimes dramatic. I actualy like the color alot. It doesnt look as awsome as the G1 colors, but the greenish grey looks good as well. It really is the most advanced Transformer toy created.

Another comment from me :P

I would also be surprised if there was a figure that was universally liked by all fans. Fans complain over the smallest detail (it's not anime accuratate, etc) but I think that MP Starscream has turned a lot of haters to fans of the mold.

Considering that the Prime Mold has had three incarnations (MP1, MP2 and MP4) I can easily imagine other seekers being produced - one being a recolour of Starscreams' "true" colours.
