Yes and no. There's the original Japanese Galaxy Force release Galaxy Convoy which has the same colour scheme as the US Cybertron Optimus Prime (red and blue). There was also the US recolour Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime (seems to be what you're thinking of) which did indeed have the blues replaced with blacks. Not 100% but I may have heard somewhere that there were some changes to the cyber keys that came with different versions. Somebody else may have more info if that's the case.

Cybertron Optimus Prime = Galaxy Force Convoy,
in terms of coloring. only (GLARING) difference is that Cybertron came with the Key unpainted in gold, while the Galaxy force version came painted (thus making it the superior version).

the Black-recolor Cybertron Optimus Prime had the Key also painted in gold, if i can recall correctly.

and oh, don't be ashamed to pay 40-60 for this toy. i got mine (Cybertron version) for 60 USD-converted and lovin' every aspect of this toy. he just is that bad-ass.
if you're starting out your Super-Prime collection (RID, Armada, Energon and Cybertron), get this toy first. you won't be disappointed.

Just to reiterate, because I seem to be the only dissenting opinion here:

Skip the bricks known as G1 Prime/Convoy, Power Master Prime/God Ginrai, Star Convoy, Armada Prime/Micro-something Convoy, and Energon Prime/I-forget Convoy. (The last isn't really a brick, nor is the first technically speaking.)

Convention-- American Name/Japanese Name

dude, i agree with you. Skip the bricks - those were good 20 years ago. Even a legend Prime can pose better.

And you post on a TF toy board?

I just found a Cybertron Prime today at TRU and snapped him up. The bot mode is great. The alt mode on the other hand, is just okay, it resembles a fire truck at a glance, but that's about it. Still though a worthy addition.

I recommend either Star Convoy Prime or the Powermaster Optimus Prime

I'll put in a vote for G1 Prime. He's not that much of a brick, plus he's the original. I got the leader Armada Prime cause he was on sale but I kinda don't like him. I prefer the deluxe version. I chose RiD Scourge over lazer Prime. I skipped on THS-02 cause the misalignment of the alt mode really bothers me. I'm not a fan of the big block Transformers like Powermaster Prime and Star Convoy. And I don't really mind Alternators Prime. The robot mode is not the best but the head sculpt is cool. And I really like the alt mode. From the other ones I have, Classics voyager and Cybertron are both awesome, as well.
