Fire Guts is rad. That's all I'm sayin'. That and Cybertron/GF Prime is great too.

I thought you meant Fire Guts, Nucleon Quest, original PM Prime (sans retractable fists and die-cast) and Super Ginrai / reissue PM Prime (with retractable fists and die-cast).

These guys pretty much said it all! But I'm gonna through in Optimal Optimas(huge and looks great), Big Convoy(and if you can find it his nemesis version), and RID Scourge
Hell, I know you came here looking for advice, but surely you must be confused by now so, man, just take your time and get them all
Once you start down the path it's inevitable anyway
(and yes, get those Megatrons too)

I did mean it that way, but I think a lot would view the orginal and the retractable fists update with the new hitch and armor as the same item.

Ok, thanks, he's probably the most expensive one.

Just throwin' this one out there cuz he's nice too: Primal Prime. He's got "Prime" colors and is pretty large. I also have an unexplainable love for the figure. Meh.

Holy Heckeroni! I just left for a day and I return to find all these great answers, and so many of them! I hadn't realised the passionate regard with which so many of us hold Prime!
Ya I'm feelin' that mate, I'm feelin' that! Basically as all the old toys ads used to say, "Collect them all!".
So that inevitably begs the next question: Who can I still get for retail? I understand I'll have to pay more now, but would appreciate if anyone could tell me what the toys were at RRP. That way when I go to Ebay or anywhere else I can know how much inflated the prices are.
I'm also confused because some of the names seem to refer to same moulds, for example Cybertron Optimus Prime and Galaxy Force Optimus Prime, same? I can't enter the toy galleries today at all (some stupid runtime error thing keeps window popping) so can't access the pics.
Don't be evil.

Where are you based? Classics Optimus and Cybertron Optimus are still available at retail. Some collectors' stores (like Forbidden Planet) occasionally have the reissues of G1 Optimus and Powermaster Optimus. Movie Prime is also available, obviously. Some stores still carry the larger Energon Optimus (with the four OP vehicles in the trailer) for a bizarre £34.75.

I'm in Singapore, but I have a couple of US contacts who get my stuff for me and send it on. I really like the look of Cybertron Prime. Is he the same thing as Galaxy Convoy? There are also the black versions of different Primes, but although black is my favourite colour (love my Ironhide and Armorhide!) the idea was to get the Primes that look similar and worthy of standing close in a sea of blues and reds

I think Galaxy Force Prime is the same as Cybertron Prime except the Galaxy Force version has black paint where the Cybertron version has blue.

Yes and no. There's the original Japanese Galaxy Force release Galaxy Convoy which has the same colour scheme as the US Cybertron Optimus Prime (red and blue). There was also the US recolour Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime (seems to be what you're thinking of) which did indeed have the blues replaced with blacks. Not 100% but I may have heard somewhere that there were some changes to the cyber keys that came with different versions. Somebody else may have more info if that's the case.

I recommend Hybrid Convoy, God Ginrai, Star Convoy, G1 Prime, Laser Optimus Prime and both of the movie versions (Voyager / Leader Class).

Well alot of the duplicate names can refer to the repaint, ie Cybertron Prime is red and blue while Galaxy Force Prime is red and black.
Unless it's real good like PM Fire Guts Convoy, or PM Neucleon Quest Convoy, I just get the first one out.
As for whats out in retail, well not knowing where you are I can't realy tell ya but I know I can still find the Titanium Megatron Prime 2 pack(awesome set), Classics Prime, of course the movie primes, and occasionaly the Cybertron Galaxy Force Prime.
Also, just to give as much info as possible, sometimes the Japanesse version will have a different name.
And last but not least, yes the lord is my sheperd tho shalt not want, but the devil has better music! A little EVIL's alot of fun

Be specific or this will all start again, a quality figure can run you between $15 and $495 depending on the model

Four different Cybertron/GF Optimus Primes. Two Japanese, two Hasbro.
~Japan's Galaxy Convoy was red & blue. He is available still at BBTS... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... ode=retail
~Then there's a Japanese Galaxy Convoy with translucent plastic all over it. This was an exclusive (Not sure to which store) but it carries a hefty price tag. He's still available on BBTS right now... http://www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/prod ... de=vintage
~Cybertron Optimus Prime is the same as the original Japanese Galaxy Convoy with red and blue. However, all of these carry a factory error where the Cyber planet keys never got painted, much like Cybertron Ransack and Cybertron Vector Prime.
~Then finally you've got Cybertron Galaxy Force Optimus Prime who is red and black. The other difference with this one is that all the rest have the Autobot symbols on their shoulders where this one has the four planet symbols painted on his shoulders instead. The Cyber planet key with him has its gold paint applications around the edges. This is the one you'll be finding in stores still.
