Haven't painted him anime colors yet, but heres my roof mod so far (I'll be adding clear plastic in the holes next)

and I personally never liked flipping the roof around in robot mode, but for those of you that do, and to show that I didn't nick the paint anywhere:

This was actually my second try. Did the first one on an extra Smokescreen roof, and I was about 1mm on one side, so it just didn't look quite symetrical. Unfortunately on that one I had graved the lines in before I did my cutting, so it couldn't be fixed just by making the hole slightly bigger. Oh well. Second time was a charm.

Your right, I haven't seen that done before either. Even though it's not "Subaru" acurate, as they don't have that roof design, it's a great homage. Now just paint his hood and roof black and he's as G1 as you can get!

I'm actually going to do either that color change black/blue paint or black first then a translucent blue coat overtop so as to give it the same effect. I figure that way it will both look cartoon accurate and make sence with the name Bluestreak. Plus, on the cartoon pics I've seen it looks like there are two different colors for the "black," example, compair the bumper to the hood. Anyways, heres a digibash of the paint scheme I'm going with:

It works! Of course, the other alternative would be to go for the original Diaclone Bluestreak toy deco and paint his sides and some of his detailing blue.

id also recomend painting the lower legs black. god i wish i had a camera to show you, but man it seriosuly looks good on the mold

If you have a richochet, you can just swap tops. Transparent blue over the black on both and you have the diaclone and g1 versions. Just need to repaint rico's head (or use smoke screen's).
I like what you have planned for the lower chest. Little details like that and the arms and legs will make a big difference I think.
