Who has not watched any trailers or teases for this movie, aside from the very brief teaser that was in theaters perhaps a year ago? I want to keep a movie like this as much of a surprise as I can. I guess I just kinda feel like some of the excitement would be lost if I watched some of the fight scenes that have been released.

your probly one of the few that havent i suppose. in the trailers, there arnt that many fight scenes. it just shows the robots briefly..but i see what you mean. i would suggest not watchin them if you dont want to ruin anything.

however, you might wanna pick up and read the prequel novel or comics just to have some background info on where the movie starts..
it's not necessary, but it helps you get in the movie mindset

Hmm, that might ruin it a bit around the 3rd or 4th volume of those prequel, those two have a bit of movie related content that surely would ruin a few surprises. But good suggestion nonetheless.

As a matter of fact, I have read the four prequel comics. I figured they wouldn't spoil too much material, and I found them rather enjoyable.
