The Hasbro version is made from light grey plastic while the Takara one is white and the paint aps for the faction symbols are a lot neater on the Japanese one. If shelf space is at a premium that's another thing to bear in mind with this figure. Due to the nature of the electronics the figure has a 'backpack' that sticks out a mile and quite a large wingspan in robot mode. To get Starscream, the Sam's Club repaint, Thundercraker and Skywarp displayed together they have to sit on top of my shelves to make sure they've got enough room.
