Takara releses more versions.... they make it better quality not like buying right away and having a loose arm like hasbro... the paint job is super more accurate

Thanks!Ive been trying to finish off my beast wars collection and the last few I got were takara versions of transmetal megs and transmetal prime. They seem of good quality and very show accurate in terms of colors. Are they all like this?

My next one will be rampage. Does anyone have any takara beast wars?

Paint apps are the biggest differences Takara is more show acurate......while some times the asesories have to be altered for their Hasbro releases do to U.S. safty laws.

Not for Beast Wars, since they were designed in the US by Kenner and were merely imported into Japan.

That's not entirely true...

Otherwise, Takara releases tend to be slightly better quality(see threads on Transmetal Megatron)

Are you collecting just figures from the main BW line, or BWII and Neo as well?

I was refering to all the Beast wars characters including the Neo and BWII characters that at least one has made it over to the U.S.

My main focus is to get everyone that was in the show, in all their forms. But I have some non-show figures that just look cool. I found a takara magmatron for cheap, but i dont know much about him.

I noticed that takara has way more accurate paint aps. That alone is worth it.

Any tips guys? Anything I should watch out for?

Its hard to answer that one with out knowing what your looking for from the non show toys. There were many more non figures then there were in the show. Many more if you start counting the Takara only figures. If I were you I would get the Magamtron and start looking for Big Convoy ,Lio Convoy and Beast Wars II Galvatron to start with.

I found all of those for about 30 bucks each.

I say get them...but keep in mind that there have be a good number of really good knock off's of these figures not to mention that there was a offical tiwan release of these figures. Most of the guys here say that theres no difference between the tiwan takara figures and the Japanese Takara figures but I have bought some or the same toys from both tiwan and Japan and with some I have found some differences.Such as softer plastic on the tail of my tiwan Lio convoy compaired to my Japan one.Eazyer breaking from a fall of 2 feet with my taiwan BWII Galvatron due to wider screws used in a few places that weekened the plastic while my Japan one has fallen from my top shelf [witch is 6 ft off the ground] a good number of times and has yet not broken.

Thats an even harder question to answer then your other one. Some of the box's are different while others are not. Some of the guys here have a lot more info on how to tell the difference. The tiwan box's have Tiwan writting on them but I dont read Tiwanese and I'm guessing you dont ether.Another way is to look at the copy rights date. The Japan Beast Wars figures should have dates with dates between 1997 and 1999 while the tiwan figures should have dates like 2000 to 2001 because that when they were being marketed over there.Your best bet is to find some one you trust to buy them off of.
