Beastwars are so fugly.

Feel free to discuss anything about any of the thousands of Transformer toys here. Anything from Generation 1 all the way to the soon to be released, the never to be released or the hope to be released is fair game! Want to show off your stuff? Please post your's and see others in the Transformers Collections Forum.

Dinobot is one of the most well-developed characters I have ever seen in animated media.

"Code of the Hero" is a great episode, and I'm not even afraid to admit that I still tear up a bit at the end.

And its unfortunate that Hasbro decided they didn't like the "dark" tone of BW and BM, preferring the light hearted RiD and Armada over Transtech, the proposed BM sequel.

Ah well.

Beast Wars is seriously one of the best cartoon shows that I've ever experienced. It's just so solid in all respects, and the CGI animation really jumped with season 2. I eish i'd taken better care of my Beast Wars toys, I'm probably gonna end up rebuying a lot of them.

I just don't get how they managed to screw up so badly with Beast Machines.Did the same writing team even work on it?

My, that's a very serious accusation.
I assume you have proof in the form of a link to a post in which I have done such a thing?

I'll admit to some mild thread crapping way back when, but those were lost causes from the start, and never generated a discussion the likes of this one.

Nope, asides from the poopy BW repaints I rather liked a lot of the designs.
From what I read the lead designer, responsible for the Autobot Brothers, hated designing asymetrical toys, and was then forced to do so. Given the quality of Prowl and Sideburn, I'm genuinely intrigued to think what their work could have been like were they given the reigns of creative control.

RiD gave us the best repaint in the history of transformers. Incredibly popular, copied many times, and unfortunately virtually unavailable outside of Japan/America (continent), RiD Scourge.

I pray you're not trying to denigrate the position of those who dislike BW by trying to insinuate that those who do like it are somehow more "imaginitive".

RID, well..........it wasnt really transformers. At least, In japan it didnt start out as such. And the designs.....well, i mean yuck. "megatron" looks hideous as does optimus. The only good thing I can think of was all the g1 and g2 rehashes.

well I can say that here is the only time so far that I have to disagree with you.I absolutely love RID, it's a perfect combo of Beast Wars and Robots inot cars that I have ever seen. It is such a great series, except the pokemon bits, but it was done by the same animation company that did Digimon so what do you expect? But I thought Optimus was Awesome! Megatron was okay, but his Gigatron/Galvatron mode is pretty cool! not to mention the other beastformers, but the Decepticons were kinda rehashes of G-1 and G-2 toys, so not much love there.

But Beast Wars was and is a great series and toy line, I think that even if Optimus Primal was a slightly larger then ape size was okay by me. I mean it's the first semi realistic approach that didn't involve the cars and trucks and took place without Human involvement. If you think optimal optimus was the best of the series, then your clearly meant to be a machine transformers fan, the Beast part doesn't really thrill you.

I didn't like the Beast machines story nor figures, though as far as giant ape robots go optimus primal was cool.Well the air attack version anyhow.

And I love how in the future the Maximal Program upgrade meant more sophisticated Bots, with smaller bodies, which explains the differences in technology from G-1 to the Beast Wars technology, that was a really awesome touch.

Not to mention my love of Optimus primal, he's a ranger on a cool mission with a cargo of protofrom comrades, who by the way was the first time we ever got to see Protoforms in the myhos, as well as the use of the name Spaark, and the Optimus mouth. Beast Wars rulz!!

Actually what i was suggesting was that if you look back at the track record of most G-1 Purists and those who back only machinery robot transformers, there seems to be a lack of tolerence of the new design aesthetics. But on the other hand, Beast Wars fans seem to be a little more enthusiastic and acceptant of newer designs. the movie discussions were proof enough, and with the advent of that design becoming more widely accepted, its made the animated series much more welcome.

imagination is a form of acceptence and tolerence, because your mind is more open when possibilities and imagination are in flux within your physche.

but yeah I was insinuating that those with one preference are less likely to be imaginative and concieve the possability that Beast Wars was actually pretty cool.

I love BW. best story telling series in my opinion. I personally love the toys. I lean towards TM2 Cheetor as one of my favs.

yeah man, you do that. it's always good to see BW collectors in these forums. one thing we need are galleries of TFs other than the usual movie/G1/unicron trilogy/RiD/universe collections. 8)

The only thing I disliked about Beast Wars, is that all my favorite characters died. Then again, the same thing happened in G1. But it started to change.. RiD there were less deaths, same thing with Armada.. with only a few main character dying.

But dying adds to the seriousness of the cartoon. And at least they didnt die in stupid ways like the G1 movie characters. Dinobot, Depth Charge, and Tiger hawk all went out as heroes! And Scorponok and Terrorsaur went out as chumps!

And beast machines......man there is a whole lot of dying going on there!

QFT!!!!

i still have to watch "code of hero", i'm taking my sweet time with it, not hurrying up...but i tell ya, BW's got the best storylines ever - much better than G1. don't believe me? watch it.

i know, because i got the whole G1 episodes in DVD, as well as the complete BW. in terms of depth of characters and seriousness, as well as humor (trust me, there are lotts of it), G1 doesn't even come close.

edit: and oh yeah (i JUST have to put this in LOL), who could not love an anti-hero with a penchant for quoting shakespeare? DINOBOT FTW!!!! 8) 8) 8) [/b]

Yeah I agree, I have all of g1 season 1 and 2 and all 3 seasons of BW and all of BeastMachines, and the latter 2 have superior writing. You still havent seen code of hero?! BEST.EPISODE.EVER. The most touching episode in any TF cartoon period.

I agree with you completly. I grew up in he 80's, and I watched G1, but beast wars got me to acutally buy the toys. And yeah, g1 purists can't seem to accept anything but g1. I liked the movie designs. Theres always room for improvement, but but I thought they looked cool.

Transtech looked really badass too. RID designs were crap. armada had some cool designs, but the toys......were much like g1= they had no tv accuracy. hell some of them looked like fisherprice toys. but minicons are sweet!

hush, don't leak any spoilers to a poor old TF fan who is 10 years late getting into the greatest series (storywise) of TF animation ever produced (though this is debatable IMHO :D).

i'm about 3-4 episodes away from "code of hero" (i'm watching it in chronological order :P ), and like i said, i'm taking my sweet time with it. i'm planning to enjoy the last few episodes where good 'ol dinobot is still alive, kickin' pred asses and takin' names. 8) 8) 8)

wow, you have that piece of metal **** as your avatar and you have the nerve to call beast wars toys ugly?
the transmetal 2 line in particular was chock full of great figures.
prowl might be one of the best transformers ever made.
also scourge.
also dinobot.

okay, I am now looking at the gallery for the transmetal 2s and realizing that these were to awesome for words
