I'm actually impressed by these. Not impressed enough to buy or like them, but you have to admit these are near-perfect representations of the new animation style.
I do like the new looks for BlackArachnia, Starscream, and Grimlock though.

Soundwave & Laserbeak= fangasm!! I loved this! I never really did like him as a jet in Cybertron, I like this better. Too bad this couldn't have been an Alternator design. Oh well, I like these toys!

I'm afraid these animated toys look too toony.
I admire the vintage for being able to maintain a less exaggerated look to the vehicles. I think that's what sold the toys more was the fact they looked like representations of cars or jets etc and that they transformed into robots.
This just looks terrible and I won't be buying any of those. P.U. Those stink!
its interesting to not that the first lot of G1 toys were toys from 2 other lines (microman and diaclone)so already produced so to speak, the animation look came after the toys. This explains why the megatron toy looks nothing like the animation as the toy came first. As soon as the ex diaclone cars/seekers were done then G1 went for the fantasy vehicles itself. the only real type vehicles were ex diaclones, ie the cars, optimus, omnibots, seekers, blitzwing, devastator, raiden.

Yeah, I don't get it either. I think they look great! Just big hulks of robotic badassery. I'm definitely getting all of these. I don't see one that I dislike at all. Perhaps there's just no accounting for taste (mine, haha).
microclone wrote:with the armada trilogy I never felt like the characterful distinct G1 toys had returned so to speak, looking at the toys on pegs just left me very uninterested. I bought a few of the energon (link types) and cybertron toys i liked (and theres only a few), binaltech are amazing but hardly fun, the classics were awesome, the movie toys are too dull, some OK but for the first time in 20 years i feel that an honest attept to restart the series properly with a real core line up of immediately memorable characters and toys, I think the whole thing is quite ingenious, if im not mistaken is it not the australian guy who designed classics bumblebee who was involved with these toys?
I agree that perhaps some of the the robo designs are a little bit too humanish and a touch too cute, i'd prefer a 25% evolution into a more angular robo look and 25% less cuteness but overall I think this is the best thing to happen to TF in a long time. The upcoming waves of movie toys just seem so bland by comparison. for those who hate all this there are the classics/universe that are also amazing.
Hurumph!! I couldn't agree more!! Well said!!

Yep my ideas with the g1 toys not paying 80 some dollars for nonposeable toys.I mean im going to only pay up to 20$ for a toy any higher then that is crazy.

sorry if this has been addressed but...........is that a second Prime on the second page? because that actually looks like the Prime from that first picture that was posted here to advertise the show..and he actually has 2 windshields as well as opposed to the 1 windshield he has in all the footage and that other toy.
i'm thinking maybe the large windshield is his cybertronian mode.
but does anyone know for sure?

Erm...yeah, I think that's it, the weird looking one without the faceplate is the Cybertronian mode, the other normal looking Prime is Earth.

Yeah, from what I've heard, there will be a deluxe Cybertronian form for Optimus, if not other characters as well. I think that is an awesome idea.

Yeah... I hate to say it but some of them are growing on me... The bot modes more than the vehicle modes, mind you. Starscream looks very much like he should, slim and deadly, with must be a sneer molded into his face...
The molds actually have a lot of personality, and I'll admot that actually seeing the toys has brought me around on animated. Though it does help that Classics is continuing as universe, so there'll still be Transformers on the market that look more like what we're used to.

I think of all the ones I dislike the most out of the animated series I would have to say Lockdown is my least favorite. Lugnut for soem reason I really like, and Soundwave doesn't do a think for me. Laserbeak as the guitar doesn't do much for me either. Other then that I like everything else, even Black whats her name.

Man can some one put a counter to count down the days to the new animated serries like they did the movie. The toys are brilliantly designed and are unique and are more poseable than any other transformers toys especially g1 lol especially. I cant wait to see how the combiners work out.

The proportions are a bit odd but then again they aren't human they shouldn't nessarily have human proportions.
I'm with you Koloth. Some of these designs are amazing! And as you pointed out, have minimal kibble. I really like some. Not so much others but the fullness of time shall tell. (I will have that Grimlock and Starscream though.)

I think the best looking robot for what the alt mode is has got to be Prowl. He's the first bike former that hasn't had an awkward time with the tires.

Amen.....Prowl looks 2 be the best cycle bot ever made period. Arcee will be 1 if only i can get used 2 her banshee like head and uppercutt hands.
Y do designers something make a figure with no wraist movement in their hands. Arcee, Scrouge(cybertron), Movie Brawl and some more i cant name at the time but i think it bring the toy down some.
Look at the Animated Starscream got me thinkin of that as well cause that we suck 4 me if his hands are stuck like that

Then pat yourself on the back for this small victory over the plastic crack! Why does everyone act like just because it says Transformers, they're supposed to like them and buy them? I don't have any Sigma 6 in my G.I.Joe collection.Versa wrote:What they really needed to do is get away from this too stretchy new-age look and stick to what worked for the cartoon before.
