Don't get me wrong, I thought this years exclusives were AMAZING. I mean I never got Vector Prime and they repainted/re molded him to look like freaking ALPHA TRION! To add icing onto the cake they even made a vector sigma accessory! Then there was the whole Decipticon giftset which had Thundercracker, Dirge, Thrust, Bugbyte, and that repaint of Clasics Jetfire (Thunderwing was it? I'm too lazy to look it up, and then the repaint of Cybertron Defense Hotshot (Springer) Then they had Huffer, and finaly Weirdwolf! All of them very cool and if I had to get one of them it would be a tie between Alpha Trion and the Decepticon Gift Set. Now the problem with these exclusives is that they are like over $100 a pop, and for molds I can get less than that it seems like a ripoff.

I remember going to Botcon 2002 (My only Botcon I've been too, hopefully I'll get to go next year) and Although I was there the last day I wasn't able to get ANY of the exlusives. Which I believe that year was that sweet Repaint of Ultimate Jetstorm (Cyclonus) and somebody else, who at that time would of been like $45 bucks, and now he's like over $100 as well. I ask of you all. Is there an easier way to nab up these guys? Or are they even worth it? I mean come on. I know only a certain number of these guys were made, but still isn't it a little much?

On a side note,I wouldn't mind nabing the Tigatron and Arcee exclusives they had for 2001 I believe...

If we all have a good opportunity to buy EVERY figure produced ... how will it become "rare."

It would be a bland world without these precious gems.

One day, some of us will get lucky ... and come across a Botcon figure at a garage sale, or something. Now that's priceless.

If you can't afford it, wait until you can ... buy what you want. I don't want to hear this "but, but ... it shouldn't be that way."

Oh yeah, this has been done over too many times to count now.

I couldn't afford to go to Botcon myself. Hell, I will probably never be able to afford to go to Botcon. But I made sure last year to get a piece of Botcon history at least and I bought the Games of Deception set. Was it expensive? Yes. Was it worth the price? Possibly. But I at least didn't moan and complain about it. Once the announcement was made there wasn't anything anyone could do about it.

Either you can afford Botcon and/or the Botcon exclusives or you can't. No amount of complaining is going to change the fact that Botcon will always have exclusive figures at a premium price due to minimal numbers being made. And some years will be way more desirable than others. Case in point, the Games of Deception Set.

I paid my arm and leg or $329 in real money for the set. I have thoroughly enjoyed the figures and having a complete set of Classics seekers. I look forward to the exclusive figures being offered this year. If I can't afford to go I'm at least gonna be able to afford the exclusive set!

I'm trying to figure out how much i should set aside not including travel expense, boxset price, and other random crap i might pick up...just incase i actually can make it.

I'm not seeing how it is a stupid comment. While limited production/availabiltiy is not the ONLY way for a figure to become rare, it is indeed a vailid one.

You misunderstand, I'm not saying it's a stupid way to be qualified a rare, it's more like he just came off as a spoiled brat going "gimme gimme". It's unreasonable to be able to have everyone get an equal share of everything, but the concept of being solely obsessed with owning things others can't have simply because most people can't have them is a little repulsive.

I don't think your topic title is consistent with your post, Lunar. You obviously attribute a lot of value to the exclusives, but you think they're rip-offs?

They're all kinda pricey. Supply vs Demand, etc. Also, it's probably a matter of personal preference. I'd give my left testicle for the 07 Games of Deception giftset, but there are other exclusives that I wouldnt pay $5.00 for. They're all unique and rare, it's more a matter of which ones you want, and how badly.
